commission calls for countries to drop ‘blanket travel bans’ on UK

Even before the mutant virus, Spain was insisting on PCR Test with certification. Granddaughter at uni in England had to get one before flying to Spain to be with her family. It was going to cost £250, though in Spain it costs 25E. (She managed to get flight to Spain about 6 hours before they banned all flights).
It seems a sensible idea for all countries...though it would need to be cheaper.

I think that France has said 48 hrs and is now requesting that those entering France from the U.K. does so with a negative covid test result.

It is exercising its sovereignty. You know, the concept we apparently have taken 4 years to get back.

The trouble is that the countries are sovereign nations (who'd have thought it?) and don't have to do what the Commission says.
