What the EU want on fishing rights for EU countries was rejected. No doubt there will have to be a compromise on it but it won’t be the same ( as you are suggesting.)
Good Morning Tuesday 21st July 2026
My garden has been ruined by ????
Just that really. Watching the News tonight and it seems there are conflicting views, as always.

No, it isn’t exactly the same ww ( fake news!)
Fishing will not be the same as was suggested by the EU in Summer for a start, that was rejected out of hand.
Oh I must have got it wrong.
Can you tell me what the summer deal was and how it has been tweaked please?

Boris Johnson got an eighty seat majority with his slogan get Brexit done and a deals in the offing as many on here have predicted for years! It will go to the wire as many business deals do ?

I was certain that Johnson was going to lead us into a disasterous crash out no deal in order to placate his paymasters, but I am beginning to think that there may be a last minute deal. BUT: we will still be worse off than we were before this nightmare period in British economic and social history, the billions wasted would have been better spent on any of a thousand other things, the MSM will treat him as a conquering hero having beaten the foreigners into a deal. I think the lazy sod will resign in the New Year, citing 'getting Brexit done' and will clear off leaving everyone else to clear up the mess as he always does.
I don’t think the clown had any choice in the matter.
Apparently it is a deal that the EU suggested early summer which the clown rejected.
I don’t care tbh, just as long as business get some certainty, and at least undoubtedly we will be able to build on the deal once the nationalists are out of the way.

I’m sure that the nationalist Tories have reached peak idiocy though and with luck the one nation tory will come into the ascendancy again.
ww your post was the 666 th one! ??
* varian* I find the assumption that this won’t become public knowledge startling.
It lays certain types in the Tory party wide open.
Oh varian you are on the wrong thread , should be whitewaves ‘true Conservative’ ?one.....or has that been pulled?
Both sides have to compromise and it looks as if they are doing, yet both sides.... not just the saintly ( on here!) EU, have to be reasonably happy with the outcome, so all will claim, with some justification tbh that it’s the best outcome.
I’ve always thought a deal would be done, as have many other people.
Tory activists have been urged to campaign like Donald Trump by “weaponising fake news” and talking “nonsense” if it works, in a party newsletter.
The bulletin sent out to members in Northamptonshire says “there are lessons that we can learn from Trump”, adding: “A lie can go round the world before the truth can get its boots on.”
It also vows to “fight woke-ism”, attacking Labour’s landmark Equality Act, designed to stamp out prejudice in the workplace and public services – arguing it “legalises discrimination based on gender”.
The newsletter, issued in Peter Bone’s constituency of Wellingborough, sparked a protest from one local Conservative, who says he was then dropped from the candidates' list for the seat.
Jack Summers told The Times, which revealed it, that he had received threatening phone calls warning him that his political career was over if he did not fall into line.
“I'm not willing to go along with what's being instructed,” he said.
“This is an attack on democracy. The Conservative Party has changed. It's not what I joined – it seems more like an English nationalist party than the Conservative Party.”

No response about Cummings massive pay rise.
Wrong thread!
No response about Cummings massive pay rise.
It’s like all the COVID stuff: virus isn’t airborne/masks don’t work etc. Once people hear it it’s impossible to convince them that the initial reports were wrong.

Anyone read the article in yesterday’s Times about Peter Bones constituency telling their members to use fake news because once it’s been spread there’s no taking it back.
Yes!! Apparently they have watched how the fake news/lies has spread like mad in the USA and intend to do the same in the U.K.
Something needs to be done to stop it.
Twitter has announced that Trumps twitter account is 100% unreliable, so I trust if the Tories go down that road they will receive the same punishment.

Oh it will get through if a deal is done, but watching the tantrums from the headbangers will be amusing.
Unless of course there’s some sort of agreement to spin this as a great Boris victory (the idea of who’s is almost as funny)They have started the spin already - Australia deal that’s part of it, in reality if it happens it’s a big climb down.
Yes you are right

I am hoping that it is the beginning of the end of the type of conservatism Johnson represents. The invisible politics and nationalism is something this country has never in our life time ever supported.
Even the name “one nation Tory” tells of the philosophy they have always adopted.
It has been one of the most horrible periods in U.K. politics in our life time.
Not in the least confident. Personally I think the exit should be postponed until the COVID issue is out of the way!!
Even if the deal does go ahead, I think things will be pretty grim. I’ve been stocking up on long life goods over the past six months - I’d be delighted if I don’t ‘need’ them (though of course I’ll still use them and will donate anything I’m not to a food bank).
Hopefully this will be the beginning of the end for Johnson - I don’t see him lasting out the year.
Even if a deal is agreed in the coming days it may well be that will come too late to prevent chaos at the channel ports on January the first.
Many freight consignments made up over the Christmas period may not have the documentation required for cross border transportation beyond December 31st. That situation is very likely to cause total chaos through the ports in the New year unless there is a comprehensive customs agreement struck which seems very unlikely.
It will take time to train drivers and their support staff in all that will necessary in Britain's new trading relationship with Europe. Add to that with the many company offices closing in a few days for up to two weeks no widespread training is likely to be available until well into the January even if a deal is struck tomorrow.
I find the above situation very concerning especially where food, drug and other medical products are being transported across Britains channel border with Europe.

The MSM is gearing up to shout “Victory” no doubt.
I suppose there are some in the country who will nod along.
