You mean same sex not gender. The fact that same sex intercourse was made legal did not change the discrimination faced by gay people. It meant they wouldn't get arrested for having sex which is always a bonus. You may wish to talk to people in the gay community about what helped alter discrimination against them, they would cite many aspects of popular culture including those programmes, but I am sure you would tell them they were wrong in their views.
Galaxy the programs that your site can be good in gaining acceptance of legislation after it has been enacted. However, such programs could never fight for the enabling of such legislation for such acted roles would have been illegal in itself prior to such legislation coming about.
As I recall there were many news discussion programs and documentaries in regard to homosexuality as it was addressed as prior to the legislation on such being enacted.
I will say again however, I am still waiting to hear from anyone how the problems of women and others subjected to discrimination in all forms and in various situations can be resolved without them implementing the equality legislation or such statutes as the Employment Rights Act.
It seems I wait in vain??????
