She’s stepping down, no matter who is selected as the next leader of the Labour Party.

I think it’s a vote catcher quite honestly.

She is and like any real genuine person she makes mistakes. I would like everyone posting negative comments on here to consider very carefully if they would be saying the same things about a white male politician, because I don't think they would and I suspect deep seated unacknowledged racism is at the bottom of much of this stuff. Even if you are a dedicated Tory you should be able to recognise her acheivements. Even if she had failures in recent history you should be able to acknowledge her previous work.

The colour of DA's skin has nothing to do with her recent ineptitude or past hypocrisy, it's the performance and integrity that she is being criticised for, nothing else. Let's get that straight. You have been the only one to continually raise her colour souziee, and you're wrong to do that. She is a politician who's performance has been criticised, just like many other politicians, male or female.

Dianne Abbotts health has been a point of discussion for a few years now and I indicated back then if Dianne Abbott is ill and under stress because of her job then the Labour Party had a duty of care to protect her.

She is still carrying out her duties as Shadow Home Secretary years later so the only presumption is she has been well enough to the job.

As Shadow Home Secretary we are talking of one of the most responsible positions in the Shadow Cabinet and if she has been known to be unwell what does it say about the Labour Party keeping her in such a prestigious position.

Dianne Abbott said :-

' I will be stepping down because I think that the new leader, they have to be able to construct their own shadow cabinet.'

Irrespective of what is said the fact is Dianne Abbott has like Theresa May, Lyndsey Hoyle et al has been able to

But when there are real positives to applaud Chewbacca why wouldn't someone acknowledge those? Why dwell on the mistakes? Unless there is deep seated prejudice that stops you seeing any worth at all.

And on and on and on

suziewoozie Mon 24-Feb-20 18:56:51

Diane Abbott, 30+ years ago supported the IRA.

I've got the same amount of respect for Boris...

At least Boris can pop a pair of shoes on his feet.

Chewbacca Mon 24-Feb-20 19:07:53

I suppose it's the same for any politician trisher; people focus on their failings and the negatives in the political careers. But I think it's completely unacceptable to focus entirely on DA's skin colour as the reason for any criticism that, in itself, is racist and should be condemned. If skin colour was the only criticism, then Paul Boateng; Bernie Grant; Asshok Kumar and Keith Vaz would also have been criticised. But they haven't. Because they have done their jobs to an acceptable level and have earned some respect.

Dianne Abbott has undoubtedly been trolled and suffered awful racist abuse, received the vilest of threats from social media.

Other MP's both female and male have also suffered the same.

Try walking in the shoes of most MP's such as Jacob Rees Mogg, Boris Johnson, John Mann, Margaret Hodge, Lucianna Burger, Ruth Smeeth, Priti Patel, Sajid Javid, Tim Farron etc. etc. etc.

Perversely there are posters who have been extremely nasty occasionally about MP's they dislike, verging on hate but who do not see themselves as perpetrators whilst chastising others.

Couldn't make it up.

Grandad1943
"In the above, I believe Abbott demonstrates to all, especially younger people, how we should all act and function in life, and in that the world would be a much better place."

Really ?? She speaks with forked tongue. This is the lady that wanted to get rid of private schools yet her child had the benefit of a private education She never did give an answer to that one.
It's do as I say and not do as I do. Again, it's easy for those at the top to pull up the ladder behind them and deny others less fortunate.

I’m getting a bit worried about how well the kickers boots are bearing up so I’ve sourced these for you on Amazon. If you get together you might be able to negotiate a group discount.

Chewbacca Mon 24-Feb-20 19:51:45

They'd suit you better.

suziewoozie Mon 24-Feb-20 19:52:40

POGS minimising the sheer amount of abuse DA received vis-a-via other MPs is just despicable and disgusting.

suziewoozie Mon 24-Feb-20 19:53:18

Hahaha

suziewoozie Mon 24-Feb-20 19:54:19

Urm do you get an extra kick about starting threads to attack Labour women MPs?

Greymar Mon 24-Feb-20 19:56:17

Keith Vaz? What?

Greymar Mon 24-Feb-20 19:56:59

suzie, it is polite after all? very very polite.

Greymar Mon 24-Feb-20 19:59:37

*Perversely there are posters who have been extremely nasty occasionally about MP's they dislike, verging on hate but who do not see themselves as perpetrators whilst chastising others.

Really? and you are so very kind?

Anniebach Mon 24-Feb-20 19:59:48

Diane Abbott dismissed her change of mind about supporting the IRA equal to her change of hair style.

Greymar Mon 24-Feb-20 20:01:38

Ah well done Annie, nothing if not a good memory. How does this fit with your so called Socialist credentials?

ananimous Mon 24-Feb-20 20:02:32

Try walking in the shoes of most MP's,

Just not Diane Abbott's as they will probably be odd.

Chewbacca Mon 24-Feb-20 20:07:48

Yes greymar. Keith Vaz. Labour MP for Leicester. British Indian descent. Hard working and respected.

Or Oona King, MP for Bethnal Green. She happens to be African American British and she's much respected by her constituents and colleagues alike. Or Dawn Butler MP for Brent, Black British. My point being that critiscm of Diane Abbott is erroneously being blamed as racism by one particular poster. She's clearly wrong.

Fiachna50 Mon 24-Feb-20 20:11:38

Trisher, why is it when anyone criticises a black politician it is racist? I am talking about a person I do not like and whom, quite frankly got paid alot of money for a job she clearly was not able to do. I dont like Ann Widdecombe or Nigel Farage, I take it that is also my unacknowledged racism. You know nothing about me, so stop assuming.

trisher Mon 24-Feb-20 20:14:35

ananimous it was acknowledged as a photoshop. Do try to keep up!

Greymar Mon 24-Feb-20 20:16:37

I thought KV was a well known paedophile.
