Oh dear.

Tracy Brabin, aged 58y, Labour MP for Batley, ex ‘Corrie’ soap actress wore this yesterday in the HoC.

I was embarrassed on her behalf. What do you think about her choice of outfit for work?

"Tracy Brabin, the shadow culture secretary, said she had been "startled by the vitriolic nature" of some comments.
She told BBC Breakfast it was her responsibility to "call it out".
"Women around the world... are being demeaned everyday because of what they wear," she said.
The Batley and Spen MP had been raising a point of order in the House of Commons on Monday about journalists being asked to leave a Downing Street press briefing on the next stage of Brexit talks, when her shoulder appeared.
She said her slightly off-the-shoulder dress had slipped a little as she leant forward to speak.
Ms Brabin said she had been to a music event earlier in the day and was not expecting to be called to the dispatch box.
"But, the context of this is frankly pretty absurd," she said.
"I am here talking about a shoulder when it is an important time for the media," she told viewers to BBC Breakfast."

You seem younger than the average GN demographic, I can’t quite put my finger on it confused Is it your moisturiser?

Urmstongran Wed 05-Feb-20 21:15:15

Thank you lemon I do have to work out to keep toned but the results speak for themselves.

lemongrove Wed 05-Feb-20 21:08:37

Urmstongran You are just as lovely as I imagined.?

lemongrove Wed 05-Feb-20 21:07:00

Dear oh dear, what a song and dance some posters are making ......not over clearly inappropriate clothes, but in
Slagging off anyone who dares venture that opinion.hmm

As for the black mesh tshirt I mentioned.......wink Mr L wears them all the time.?

janipat Wed 05-Feb-20 20:43:41

trisha Personally I don't care what any MP wears they are there to do a job not make a fashion statement

and yet you started a thread about Michael Gove's facial appearance, not his performance in parliament?

I can't be fussed about the dress, but my friend who works in the HOC restaurants would not be allowed to wear such an outfit. I do think the comments that go beyond just saying it isn't business attire (the HOC dress code) are totally unnecessary.

SirChenjin Wed 05-Feb-20 20:28:05

And don’t you look lovely Urm - even though your swimsuit looks nothing like Brabin’s outfit smile

Urmstongran Wed 05-Feb-20 20:25:19

Oh ... you meant ‘gravitas’!

Urmstongran Wed 05-Feb-20 20:24:27

?

SirChenjin Wed 05-Feb-20 20:22:54

Actually, it really is!

Urmstongran Wed 05-Feb-20 20:22:26

It is me by the way. Taken last summer.
?

Urmstongran Wed 05-Feb-20 20:15:46

That really made me giggle SussexBorn!

Actually, from the waist up, this swimsuit isn’t all that dissimilar!

SirChenjin Wed 05-Feb-20 20:11:05

Gravitas isn’t what this thread deserves.

Chestnut Wed 05-Feb-20 20:09:36

Sorry, I'm finding it very hard to give this thread the gravitas it deserves.

SirChenjin Wed 05-Feb-20 20:09:33

But don’t be surprised when people call your posts out for what they are Urm ?

Urmstongran Wed 05-Feb-20 20:07:23

And thanks to you too Chewbacca you nailed it there.
?

Chestnut Wed 05-Feb-20 20:07:22

paddyanne Ooh, knives out! ? (safety pin will have to do!)

SirChenjin Wed 05-Feb-20 20:06:17

I don’t know what you wear on the beach Urm but I’m willing to bet it looks nothing like Brabin’s top, does it.

Don’t be embarrassed for other women based on the tops they’re wearing - save your concern for the really big things.

Urmstongran Wed 05-Feb-20 20:05:15

Thanks Chestnut!

Chestnut Wed 05-Feb-20 20:04:14

Sussexborn ????

paddyanne Wed 05-Feb-20 20:04:08

I 'd rather have an honest politician in a one shoulder dress or ripped jeans than some of the scumbags sitting on the tory benches who wear suits worth hundreds of pounds or more and who are happy to destroy peoples lives with the stroke of a pen .

Sussexborn Wed 05-Feb-20 19:58:08

Urmstongran perhaps you should pm Suziewoosie with the details of any threads you are considering and she could advise if it is ok for you to think your own thoughts. That way her knickers could remain untwisted!

I am beginning to wonder if Susie has a secret crush on BJ as she manages to bring his name up on every appropriate and inappropriate thread.

On a positive note at least TB bothered to attend. The place almost seems to be abandoned most days.

MaizieD Wed 05-Feb-20 19:56:50

Oh, FFS! She didn't do it intentionally, Ug. Are you finding that too difficult to understand?

Urmstongran Wed 05-Feb-20 19:54:03

She looked as if she were wearing beach wear. Not office wear. That’s why I said ‘oh dear’. SirChenjin

And actually if I’d been at work and she were a colleague and walked into the office wearing that dress, honestly? I would have been embarrassed - for her.

As I said, too much skin. In work.
