I'm sure there will still be plenty of scope for the gutter press to blame the EU for 'punishing us when the negotiations do not end well and it turns out that those who said we could get a better deal if we left were lying after all.
It's all quiet in most of the media because their job is done. They've wound up people to the extent that they regard the EU as evil incarnate and their billionaire owners can heave a sigh of relief that they're free of any attempts by the member states to curtail their tax avoidance activities.
They're not in the least bit interested in the difficult negotiations that will go on for the next 11 months to try and get a few trade deals agreed before we final sever ties with the EU. Or in any possible damage to the UK economy... because billionaires will always be fine...
On Wednesday I saw a story in Le Monde that the powers that becin France were blaming "Brussels" for an imminent increase in electricity prices. The EU is a useful whipping boy for politicians, as well as the press, in even enthusiastic member states.
Yes it's quiet on the Brexit front. Leaving is only the start of years of negotiations and adjustments. I'm sure that will give the press (and doom/gloom brigade) more stuff to exaggerate, misrepresent and panic about!
What will our anti-EU media now spread lies/fake news about? Some posters have commented that it has been very quiet on the Brexit front of late. What will replace the ”blame the EU” stance for all our ills?
