Nobody claims the EU is perfect but as a member we can support reforms, however EU membership is overwhelmingly popular.

EU membership is also very popular in France and Germany.

Of course the majority of the member states of the EU are happy because they don't contribute anything but just receive! The UK is the 3rd highest contributor so when we leave, France and Germany will have to pick up the slack. Let's see how happy they are then!

Individual EU countries may have problems but none are in such a perilous state as the UK would be if the brexit madness is not stopped.

EU membership is extremely popular,in all the other EU countries because of the benefits it brings and because of the bonlers brexit policies of the UK government over the last three years.

Germany is on the brink of recession and France has riots with yellow jackets burning Paris every weekend, for over 6 months. Greece is struggling as usual and Italy is being dragged down by euro and EU. Spain has massive unemployment. How do you justify they have gone from strength to strength?

The UK has lowest unemployment for 27 years.

Yes, let's pander to the remain voters and revoke Article 50 and stop brexit.

The EU are indeed upping their game. Solidarity. More effort to ‘listen to the people’ etc. The establishment have had a wake up call and they realise it’s in their interest to keep the show on the road. No splits, no dissent - providing a united front.

Nice for the people of Europe to gain from this bounce that Brexit has helped push their way.

There are about 66 million people in this country.

As we have been told ad infinitum, in 2016, 17 million voted for the brexit nonsense'

Over 1 million of these leave voters have since died and so it is perfectly correct to say that there are now about 50 million people living in the UK who NEVER voted for this brexit nonsense.

It is high time we stopped pandering only to the leave voters as we have done for the last three years and just Revoke Article 50 and stop brexit.

If you can't be bothered to vote why should anyone be bothered to know what your opinion is, still less take it into account.

All but a very few chose not to vote.

IMO it's ridiculous to refer to the "49 million British people who never voted" for Brexit when 17.4 million voted for it and 16 million voted against.

Who knows what the remaining 33 million (49 -16) would have voted for.

It is just brilliant to see how in the last three years the European Union has gone from strength to strength and the other 26 nations have given great support to the Republic of Ireland.

Ursula von der Leyen, the incoming president of the European Commission, today announced her 27-strong team of commissioners who will take office from November 1.

Irishman Phil Hogan, who is currently in charge of agriculture, will take up the post of trade commissioner which means he will lead post-Brexit talks between the bloc and Britain.

Irish premier Leo Varadkar congratulated Mr Hogan, describing his appointment as a 'very positive development' for Ireland.

The Taoiseach said: 'Ireland sought a major economic brief in the new European Commission, and I am very satisfied that we have secured it.

"Janus Wojciechowski a member of the European Court of Auditors which monitors and audits MEPs expenses, is being investigated for fraud on the grounds that he fiddled his expenses!!!"

He is the Polish European Commission candidate......the EU the gift that keeps on giving?????

We will find out just how delighted the electorate are with Johnson in November or early December when we have a general election.

I happen to know quite a number of Leave voters and traditional Conservative voters and I have yet to speak to one who is delighted with BJ's utterly pathetic performance.

Isn’t this Boris’s plan. Failing to nominate and being in breach of EU regs and thereby forcing UK out with no deal?

So why is Boris so popular right now? None of the other party leaders can touch him!

Ergo he must be doing something that the electorate are delighted about.

It must be totally undemocratic for this damage to our national interest to be perpetrated by a minority lame duck government representing a party which came a poor fifth in the EU elections a few months ago and was only able to get 9% of the vote.
