A general election about Brexit might just as well be another referendum - that would be more honest. The only good thing to come out of this is that at least many politicians, from various sides, have done the decent thing. ie Decided that Parliamentary democracy is more important than personal gain.
And that includes resisting being bullied.

What is under discussion is the Withdrawal agreement, not as many people believe the trade agreement which cannot even be discussed until we leave.
No other country who has a free trade agreement with the EU has been subjected to the turmoil of withdrawal terms. This is in part because a free trade agreement could not be denied because UK is already fully compliant. Other member states would follow.

And why was DC trying to achieve changes in the EU for policies that were damaging to UK and failed. His reasoning for the referendum was if he could not achieve the changes that the country demanded then he would put the decision of what to do next to the country in the firm of a referendum.
