He's an actor. He can feign any kind of reaction. He exudes insincerity - a fake politician delivering fake news.

... but he is not very good at it- and he knows perfectly well the EU can't, and won't budge, and can't and won't agree to a 'cake and eat it (with unicorns)' deal which will destroy the GFA and put the UK in a much more favourable situation than the EU partners. Just pretending, just going through the motions - and going for No Deal, as ERG have been planning right from the start.

Shall I repeat why? It is so so simple, really.

Michael Gove seems to have joined a long list of senior politicians who think the public are too daft to see what he is trying to do.

He and his party have had three years to sort this out and the backstop was put in at the request of the UK to avoid causing trouble in Northern Ireland.

The EU reluctantly gave us a second extension which led to us sending the appallingly rude Brexit MEPs to the European parliament...adding to the shame of this country's belligerent stance towards 27 peaceful allies who wanted us to stay.

The EU did warn us not to waste this time, but instead the Westminster MPs have all gone off on their holidays (to be followed by the "conference" season) leaving approximately a month of "useful" time which is no time at all to fix the biggest crisis this country has faced outwith world wars.

Boris has dotted around the country promising billions in money he knows full well was either already committed or won't be forthcoming (probable projected excuse being that it doesn't exist or is needed for the disaster of No Deal).

Gove and co know they are in a pickle entirely of their own making and they want us to blame the EU. Tragic that they think we will keep falling for their schoolboy shennanigans at a time of deep national self-inflicted crisis.

The only people they are scaring the proverbial out of are the very people they serve. Absolute power does indeed corrupt, it seems.

So glad I am Scottish and may well have other options in the very near future.

Depending how things pan out, Scotland may well become a first choice for many. Waiting to see- but it could be a choice for us too.

I'm cautiously optimistic that there are so many big egos (Johnson, Gove, Cummings, Farage, Banks, etc) that they'll shoot each other in the back (metaphorically, of course).

I was extremely irritated by his silly little voice yesterday when he said he was 'saddened' by the EU's response.

There is a concerted effort to blame the EU and make them out to be unreasonable, after three years of negotiations!

Johnson has said come what may we will be out by 31 October, so why would the EU negotiate anything?

I think I will start listening to the news on 01 November. Heartily sick and tired of this drawn out saga of initiating a decision made 3 years ago. It's pathetic.

Gove is one of the most unpleasant, dishonest, manipulative, Machiavellian individuals in this Conservative government. He treats the public like idiots. The EU made it clear there is no room for further negotiation. This country voted by a very slim majority to leave the EU. Why should the EU make a special case for a country leaving? No reason at all.

It is noticeable that the people who state categorically that we will be leaving on 31st October are the same people who told us we were definitely leaving on 29th March, and then again on whichever leaving date came after that. You would think they might have learned by now not to be so sure, but their arrogance is undiminished.
