maddy I’m really with you on this. I find the word queer hard to say because it used to have such negative connatations. Like the n word. I do know that both queer and the n word have been reclaimed by some ( not all) parts of the relevant communities - just like some disabled people use the word cripple. However I really don’t think that everyone in all those groups accept those words. Stonewall does not speak for the totality of the whole gay community and its stance on transgender issues and lesbians is roundly condemned by many gay and transgender people themselves. It would be interesting to know what your son felt about the use of that word.
DAK I think the main problem I have with your posts is that you are presenting a particular perspective as one that is universally accepted and it really isn’t .
