You can buy boats on gumtree and ebay. Its like buying a car. Noone cares who they sell their used car to.

petra I disagree. I think those selling the boats will know that whoever is buying them may well be doing so for trafficking reasons but they are still selling them. Even if the Iranians didn't buy the boat themselves they could easily get someone else to do it for them. It was on the BBC I heard they were doing this, I didn't invent it.

It is complex, worrying and has been handled very badly by so many people.

Where are they going to live, we have a massive housing shortage.
Plus, ( going down the legal root) how are we going to check that these people are who they say they are. These countries don't have the IT systems that we in the west do.

Surely they are not that expensive? If, say, 10 asylum seekers pay the traffickers £4000 each, it would be cheaper for them to buy a boat themselves? As I said earlier, I did hear that they were doing so but then it was no longer mentioned in the news.

As you know Italy won't take anymore. They won't get a warm welcome from countries along the Adriatic coast. Greece is full so wouldn't expect a welcome there.
That only leaves Turkey. 'If' they are allowed in they will be put into camps.

I would imagine refugees from war may not have, or be in a position to acquire, a passport hence cannot fly?
