Do we have any good fortune tellers who can help Theresa May by forecasting what weapons Brutus (uBoris ) will use in his endeavours to generate a capitulation by uNumber 10 ?
One thing I do expect to happen is lots of smokescreens. Many snipping at Labour and many fairy stories about how we are on the road to Utopia.
As I not happy with either of the main two parties recent performances , should I seek Donald Trump’s advise?

AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH

humptydumpty Wed 03-Oct-18 11:48:38

I had thought one of the main problems was that not enough British people wanted these jobs...

Granny23 Wed 03-Oct-18 11:32:23

Statement from Mrs May as reported by Frank Bough.

We will prevent unskilled workers coming from the EU and will fill the gap by training British Workers

So, we're going to 'train' British Workers to have 'No Skills'?

Interesting Concept!

IS there a "crowd" photographs I saw of Mundell had about 50 folk all moved to the front for the camera's sake .Hardly a massive turnout of the faithfull!

lemongrove Wed 03-Oct-18 08:43:41

Theresa May is proving very resilient, much more than many had thought. It will take more than a rousing speech from Boris to oust her. Of course they were all agaog to hear what he would say yesterday, but I doubt he has changed anything by it.

Anniebach Wed 03-Oct-18 08:38:32

There will be more dignity than the Corbyn speech , it was cringing when he stood on the platform and sang “oh Jeremy Corbyn’ with his audience . A surprise he didn’t call out ‘ three cheers for Jeremy’

Grandad1943 Wed 03-Oct-18 07:46:42

Today, without doubt, we shall witness the same crowd that cheered Boris (The Buffoon) Johnson to the hills yesterday, today loudly clapping Theresa May during her speech. Then we shall see the obligatory waving and standing ovation for her at the end.

What a crowd of two-faced dorks" this Tory party and its members have become.

jura2 Tue 02-Oct-18 19:55:59

So here we are - talk about that Hobson's choice in a million - Corbyn or Johnson yyyyyyyiiiiiiiiiikkkkkkkkeeeeeeesssssss

MaizieD Tue 02-Oct-18 19:50:36

I think that just 'Buffoon' fits Johnson best, Grandad grin

jura2 Tue 02-Oct-18 19:13:33

even his most hardent supporters know that- and that is the tragedy of it (no, no, no hysteria, I am using the word aptly).

Grandad1943 Tue 02-Oct-18 17:56:31

Johnson has today torn the Tory party completely apart. The only policy he has is " Boris Johnson". To achieve the premiership, he would see the UK "crash out" of the European with no deal whatsoever.

However, he has no answer to the problems Britain would then experience through the ports, the loss of major manufacturers to the EU and most significant, no answer to the Irish border problem.

Johnson is nothing short of a right-wing extremist Buffoon

In the meantime, I just love Femi- and YES, it IS EU LAW - that the UK has CHOSEN NOT TO APPLY (not shouting- just making very clear:

His kind of energy and enthusiasm is not what we need right now - and he wants to Mrs May prosecuted for the Checkers deal? He should be prosecuted for his lies - people in glass houses.

Shall we soon have our own Trump. God forbid sad

kittylester Tue 02-Oct-18 15:09:59

Me too, lemon and I loved Boris's energy and enthusiasm.

I'm off now!! grin

lemongrove Tue 02-Oct-18 14:48:46

Thought that Javid gave a marvellous speech today, just the right tone and content.??

Two people who are not attending the Conservative Paarty conference are MEPs Julie Girling and Richard Ashwaorth who have been expelled from the party for not toeing the party line in the EU Parliament.

Julie Girling says "Since the decision to leave the EU, she says, “I just felt there is a lack of any space to have discussions around policy and a beginning of an atmosphere of unless you’re 100% with us you are the enemy. The party just has no place for somebody like me who didn’t agree. I am just not allowed not to agree.”

After the June 2016 vote, Girling reluctantly supported the leave result that many of her constituents had voted for. But she was soon alienated when May embarked on a policy of leaving the EU customs union and single market – “the hardest possible Brexit”.

A turning point was the 2016 party conference, where the prime minister declared that anyone who identified as a citizen of the world was a “citizen of nowhere”, which Girling describes as “that nasty speech”, and then a subsequent speech in which May set out her Brexit red lines. “When she first came out with these red lines I was really astonished,” says Girling, who had expected a softer Brexit to reflect the narrowness of the 52-48 result of the referendum.

I doubt whether many of the substantial number of Conservative supporters who agree with Julie Girling and are appalled and dismayed at the way their party is being dominated by the brextreemists will be allowed to speak, or if they do, whether the Brexit Broadcasting Corporation will cover it.

Grandad1943 Tue 02-Oct-18 12:12:28

jura2, that is precisely the position the EU negotiators find themselves in with the Tory negotiators.

There is also the fact that in the few coherent proposals the British Negotiators have put forward, we have asked the European Union to break the rules laid out in the Maastricht and Lisbon treaties to accommodate our leaving.

That, of course, is not possible for them.

jura2 Tue 02-Oct-18 10:29:25

Some say we should 'bring the country together' - but how could this be possible, when the Conservatives are so so bitterly and twistingly divided- pray tell?!?

That the EU should make a real effort to meet the demands of the UK- but how could they, when the Conservatives cannot, even at this stage, agree with each other and are pulling in all directions- often for personal gain, arrogant vanity.

MaizieD Tue 02-Oct-18 10:26:07

The hardline Brexitiers are holding a full second conference down the road and attracting as much publicity as the main conference.

The Guardian reported today that the 'Conservatives for Remain' fringe meeting was packed out. Brexiteers aren't getting it all their own way.

MaizieD Tue 02-Oct-18 10:23:15

Nice clear video here explaining why austerity doesn't work:

twitter.com/jeremycorbyn/status/1046803329379110914

Try to overcome your prejudice against Corbyn The video is sound economics.

Grandad1943 Tue 02-Oct-18 08:19:18

Not been able to see much of the Conservative conference, but from what I read it seems to be a continuous unfolding disaster.

Hardly anyone in the audience section of the hall, but I suppose when they are told to f* off by a very senior Tory MP the business community decided to stay away.

The hardline Brexitiers are holding a full second conference down the road and attracting as much publicity as the main conference. Undoubtedly that is why there are so many empty delegate seats in the main conference hall.

Then we have Boris (The Buffoon) Johnson about to make his pitch for the leadership today after he has finished his run through the wheat field of course.

Surely all anyone can say after witnessing all this would be "what a pathetic shambles".

MaizieD Mon 01-Oct-18 22:43:44

Corbyn hailed Venezuela as Utopia, that isn’t worrying

Not particularly, Annie. The circumstances in Venezuela are so very different from those in the UK that I'm pretty sure we couldn't go the same way.

Mind you, as far as shortages of food and medicines go I think that we're well on the way to a no deal Brexit so are likely to see shortages ourselves next year, though from quite different causes.

I'm far more worried about the political effects of no deal. Those Henry VIII powers that parliament so very foolishly gave to the Government are potential wreckers of the UK.

Anniebach Mon 01-Oct-18 21:39:42

So fewer in the conference hall because the fringe meetings on. Brexit were packed

lemongrove Mon 01-Oct-18 21:02:32

I am a chapess btw (Mr L would be surprised if I wasn’t!)

lemongrove Mon 01-Oct-18 20:38:58

That goes for you too MaizieD are you disappointed that I
Agreed with others here about Hunt’s speech? Hmm, I think maybe so.
