The British people voted twice, once in a referendum to leave the EU, then in a General Election when the two main political parties both stood for election to Parliament on a Brexit mandate. The decision to leave the EU by majority vote at the referendum was consolidated at the General Election, since both the Government and Opposition parties both stood on Brexit mandates.
