I have told them in my complaint what they are putting them through mcem they have listened to my daughter breaking down , the baby crying and my pleading for them to just do something, but they are very thick skinned those people at the Halifax .

They have already moved Peep the house is empty . They have been trying to sell for 18 months reducing the price from £80,000 downwards until they have asked for permission to sell in negative equity (£55k) . I hate the Halifax !

It’s seems an impossible situation. My heart breaks for them . My poor daughter is almost permanently crying and setting the baby off who must be picking up in all this sadness and upset .

Have they thought of selling the one they’re in and moving into the NE house?

I am sorry that Halifax are blighting your family's life; over and above the blight of negative equity.

My DD is in negative equity too - and they have been forced to bring up their 3 children in a tiny flat - a nice tiny flat, but just no room. They could not have foreseen this; and they all work their tripe out, but cannot progress to a proper family home. When we all bought our homes the expectation that their value would rise was a given.

But there we are - successive governments have been committed to lining the pockets of the bankers and those who already have it good. So much for May's promise to have ordinary people who are "just about managing" as her priority.

I hugely admire my DDs who get on with life and with what it has thrown at them, always looking for the good things.

gilly I absolutely understand the pressures you're describing as my daughter and her husband had a similar situation at the time of their baby's birth. They had bought a vehicle and it broke down after three months leaving them with an unusable car and a £17k repair bill. They tried contacting the parent company and asking for a goodwill gesture of half the repair costs and were turned down.
I then found the email address of the CEO and wrote to him myself and within 24 hours there was an agreement in place to have the vehicle fixed at no charge.

You have nothing to lose by trying to help so I suggest you give it a go: the group chief executive (CEO) of Lloyds Banking Group is Antonio Horte-Osorio ([email protected]), if you google him you'll see he has written extensively about mental health and stress.

I fear it’s too late now Lazigirl their potential purchasers have given up waiting. Something inside me wonders whether the Halifax have hoped this would happen .

You couldn’t possibly make anything worse MaryEliza so no need at all to be sorry . I have made an official complaint to Halifax which they have failed to respond to despite their promise of a 5 day complaint procedure . Apparently there are many hoops to jump through before they will allow a negative equity sale ( even if you are willing to pay the difference via a loan) . The Halifax have dragged their feet for 13 weeks now for absolutely no reason ( we were promised a 6 week turnaround) . They have told so many lies that I have lost count . Promises to call back that never materialise, promises that their surveyor would be out tomorrow, then tomorrow , then denying they ever said it. You never speak to the same person twice and it typically takes 20 minutes to even get through to the department. Their potential buyers have given up now ( after 13 weeks and still no permission to purchase, who could blame them ) I don’t know what they will be able to do now ? I fear for my DD’s health I honestly do .

I’m sure she and her partner will feel a lovely warm glow knowing that Charlie and his relatives are travelling around in the lap of luxury though.

What an awful situation gilly. Am so sorry for young ones who are struggling like this and hope the Halifax acts reasonably to sort it out soon. In contrast none of the Royals will ever have such worries. According to the 'Republic' site the Monarchy earns more than the average wage (£28,000) by 00.43hrs on 1st Jan! This country's medical and public services are on their knees for lack of funds, so what sort of insensitivity enables our Royal family to behave in such a way?

Oh gilly I’m so sorry and sorry I’ve made things worse. I wish I could think of something to advise you but the situation just looks intractable. As you say, they could pay the £15000 back as a loan. Is there absolutely no hope of your MP helping? I know it’s probably a non started as it’s not a government department but it is an example of how the North suffer so much - negative equity just can’t happen in the better off areas. I’m really so very sorry

My DD is probably going to have to return to work full time in the next few weeks in order to keep a roof over her 8 week old babies head. Her lovely partner is unable to sell his house which is in negative equity and the Halifax building society are pushing him closer and closer to very the edge of sanity . They are currently trying to pay 2 mortgages , 2 council taxes (in one of the highest A bands in the country) , 2 water rates, 2 gas and electrics etc. He had a potential sale for £55,000 ( the mortgage is £70,000) but after 3 months the buyers have walked away stating they can’t wait indefinitely for the Halifax to allow the NE sale. Not that they give a sh*t because they don’t . I understand that the “Lovely” people at the Halifax want their pound of flesh, they are money lenders after all , but for reasons that completely escape me, they are so far refusing to convert the difference to a loan despite him being perfectly capable of meeting the payments and having a previously unblemished credit score. The CA have been worse than useless advising him to file for bankruptcy. For £15,000 ? Why? The Halifax have ignored my daughters tearful pleading and my official complaint about their despicable treatment of this young couple despite promising a 5 day complaint turnaround and now I don’t know where to turn . They have however succeeded in effectively ruining the start of my beautiful baby gradaughters life . My DD is crying virtually every day all because of the Halifax ! I am so frustrated and angry I don’t know what to do any more.

I have nothing against the royal family. I can see that a lot of people like to follow their every move and that they do bring a few tourists in. But really. Why do they do this? It’s not as if they don’t realise, they’re not stupid. I know they move in elite, overly rich circles, but can’t they set an example? If Edward and Sophie could travel for less why can’t the whole lot of them.
