I thought the LP was the party of it's members. With over 70% ABC1's, it's hardly the party of the workers!

The Labour Party is now made up of the wealthy middle class Liberal 'elite' who are very far removed from the problems working class people face. (Brexit was the result of a massive swathe of people feeling disenfranchised and unheard.) I think working classes need a centrist party, one which recognises aspiration

Old left wing academics support Labour/Momentum as do students looking to unite against an 'enemy' they've never experienced. Then of course there is Momentum, radical far left and made up of people who will string up effigies from bridges and show their murderous intentions on placards when the news is focused on the Conservative Party in conference. Oh and the Marxist Shadow Chancellor suggesting an opposition female MP should be lynched. Oh and people within the party forming hit lists, scouring social media accounts to see what's been written by Labour Party members they can identify.

See the thread on Mumsnet if you want a bit of factual background. It is a very, very angry thread. I have to say, younger women (Labour Party members too over there) are much more on the ball, seem better informed that Gransnetters and up in arms. So many declare they are leaving the Labour Party and are all set to join the crowd-funded campaign to mount a challenge.

This is the new Labour. Blair got it wrong. This is what has replaced what was. I cannot imagine many working class voters identifying with that.

A man in a frock can just say I am a woman , and he is a woman and can stand as a female cadidate , not a party I can campaign for , this is not equality in my opinion

Identity politics, men in ladies loos and no questions asked, men in women's changing rooms with teenagers and girls, men in women's prisons, men who identify as women becoming women's officers and representing women even when they have never given birth, breast fed, had periods, been groped, raped or physically overpowered, abused - or faced all the discrimination natural women have had to fight over the years and still do .etc, etc, etc - and gender identity Annie. Can you imagine working class people rushing to stand next to Corbyn on these issues?

It's a funny old world. Lesbians are also angry that man with a penis and testicles but dressing as a woman can dictate to lesbians as to how they should be thinking.

One way to lose votes , this is equality of the sexes ?

I have no problem at all with people being who they want to be, dressing how they want, loving who they want expressing how they feel, nurturing whatever side of them needs to be expressed etc, as long as it is lawful.

However, a male jettisoning whichever part of his masculinity he doesn't like or cannot cope with and finding refuge as a woman, because he 'identifies' as one has mental problems and needs a shrink and maybe surgery, but not promotion to a role designated to be filled by a natural woman. A man (for sake of argument) confused as to his identity has my sympathy, but not when they tell women they know what it is to be a woman. That is plainly ridiculous. You experience being a woman. A woman's biology is very different. Goes without saying.

Accept and understand trans people. Aid them in finding peace. It is a confused state of being. Do not promote them to roles they do not understand, do not allow them to leap frog over women who have walked the walk since the day they were born and who have still had to fight harder than most men to be accepted and treated as an equal.

Do not set back the feminist cause and do not taint feminists as radical cruel harpies, as is happening now. The TERF description is being applied to natural women who object to a tiny minority of disturbed men who are pushing their agenda crash bang wallop into the space fought for by our generation of women and generations before us and now our daughters and grandaughters.

One huge leap forward for men in dresses with penises, and a masculine, aggressive two fingers up into the face of every liberated woman on the planet, and her daughters. Thanks Labour Party.

When labour win the election Corbyn's first move will be to buy 8,000 houses throughout the country for hostels for the homeless and give councils the right to take over properties which are being kept empty .

He supports a man who self identifies to be accepted as a woman .

And a living wage of £10 per hour will be enforced.

That will bring a rise in unemployment

Yes - I saw him on Marr too Annie. I was surprised that he wasn't asked how much the budget for 8,000 homes is (about £2 billion) if that would impact 1st-time buyers (I think it would) and I have no idea what 'taking over' an empty property means.

For self-identification, he said he would talk to members who had a problem with it - but some have already been suspended from the party!

It was a very lightweight interview, no substance there on either side.

Primrose , 8,000 properties would need a lot of money after the purchase to convert them into hostels unless he thinks all homeless can live together, share a kitchen and bathroom . The man is an idiot , if he wins an election heaven help us.

He has no idea that self identification will lose votes , if a man says to him - I am a woman, that's good enough for him.

An immediate increase from the minimum wage to his living wage will cost the employer another £100 per week for every employee , small businesses cannot pay this , he seems to think all businesses are raking in money . A coffee shop employing three is not equal to Asda or Tesco

Providing decent accommodation for the homeless is only the first step in a long process of rehabilitating people back into society - provided that is what they want, of course.
Saying he will 'buy up houses throughout the country for hostels for the homeless' would seem to be just a sound-bite, or perhaps an 'ambition'?
What kind of property? Would it be suitable? What about the ongoing support services needed? Did he mention all that too?

Well, that is my problem with Corbyn, that there is actually no substance there at all. The power behind him (the torque if you like) is Lansman.

I had lots of ambitions, some fulfilled some not, probably due to lack of money.

There's a letter in the Sunday Times today from leaders of Labour councils protesting about the actions of the NEC and Corbyn and their intervention in Haringey.

leaders of almost 70 councils, including Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle and many London boroughs, say the actions of Labour’s ruling national executive committee (NEC) are “dangerous and alarming”, “uncomradely and disrespectful” and “an affront to the basic principles of democracy”.

So cross I missed Corbyn on Marr- as OH wanted to watch tennis (Well done Roger btw) - but a colleague wrote this:

Another concluded 'a well meaning idiot' - well I don't think he is - but on Europe, he has always been anti, and still is, and seems to indicate he has not got a clue. Labour remainers are totally deluded if they think they can trust him on Brexit, sadly. His attitude is putting all of us at risk - and the poor even more so.

If a business can't pay a living wage to its employees- then maybe it should not be in business at all? Discuss.
