I prefer the leather trousers idea to an empty chair ?. But its looking worse and worse for Labour. MPs deserting them. Even Bob Marshall-Andrews (no longer an MP but was always an anti-Blair stalwart of the left) is backing the LDs. Report in the Times about places like Darlington being up for grabs after 25 years of Labour representation. Early days though. 7weeks is a long time in politics!
Just listened to John Humphries interview Emily Thornbury on Today (Radio 4). It is definitely time he retired. What a pathetic interview. When will they learn that just being pleasant rather than confrontational - no John, the day after the vote on an election no one has a manifesto - he will get a better interview and, more importantly more information and clarification.
(Just to be even handed, I do feel exactly the same when he interviews people from the Conservatives)
As for the fact Labour MP's are not standing I stand by my earlier post.
Corbyn and Momentum will fill their constituencies with candidates that back Corbyn and Momentum. In other words out with the old in the with new but the new have to agree with the Corbyn/Momentum Party not necessarily the Labour Party. The two are quite different on many aspects.
Pogs dont bother trying to understand the snp, there is nothing they do that makes sense. Sturgeon acts like a spoiled wee bairn who hasnt gotten her own way. Her true colours are shining through
Regardless of John Humphries I cannot stand Emily Thornbury, she posted a picture with a sneering remark (I think it was on Twitter, but not 100% sure) of a house with a white van outside and an England flag hanging through the window (there may have been an important match coming up but again not sure, I'm not a football fan.) She is a champagne socialist of the worst kind, she sneers at the working classes.
I agree Maddy, but not with the champagne socialist tag sorry. This tag is stuck on people who may be wealthy but who do care for for the poorest .
Thornbury wants to be the next labour leader, she switched from being a Milliband supporter to a Corbyn supporter in a flash, if he was to stand down now and a leader from the centre elected she would switch again, she is self serving.
Yes whitewave you're right of course, and I wouldn't base my vote on her behaviour, it's too important for that, but I particularly dislike Emily Thornbury because I find what she did to be particularly rude, and for me at least, her behaviour sums up entirely her view of ordinary working people.
But whitewave, it is possible to dislike a member of the Shadow Cabinet or the Cabinet or indeed any politician but be a supporter of their party in general. There are plenty of people on here and elsewhere who express their dislike of a particular politician.
I agree with maddyone about Emily Thornberry, aka Lady Nugee.
The 'sneering' comment was, I believe "image from #Rochester". Of course someone could choose to read that as sneering or, should you want to denigrate someone it might be made to be read that way by members of other parties. Personal remarks are no more illuminating when they are about a politician than they are about a poster on here THAT YOU DON'T KNOW and, as I know from my own preferences, they are often nothing to do with the person THAT YOU DON'T KNOW but your political preferences.
Not liking someone was not my point re the interview. It was just the aggressive style that John Humphries' tends to use - but he is not alone it tends to be the 'in' style of the moment but doesn't tell us anything we didn't know.
Corbyn would not be where he is if people in the party had not voted for him and it is therefore clear that this is what some Labour voters want: a party that is distinguishable from the Lib Dems, rejects Blair's revamp and goes back to its roots. That is fine - that is their choice.
Those who want the party to go in another direction have to deal with that as best they see fit. It is no good attacking Corbyn for being what the majority want at the moment.
