The bombastic style of writing is so typical of a number of men from both left and right, who've posted on political threads .... and in all my days I've never heard a woman refer to 'paedos'. That seemed very male to me!

I never saw her correct posters who said he/she - most women would just say 'I'm a woman, not a man', as did a lady lorry driver recently.

She did say she was a woman at least once, when someone asked whether her username was taken from the surname of the murderer of Jo Cox.

Mair is the Welsh form of Mary.

True, but doesn't mean her name WAS Mary.

I didn't see the post where she said she was a woman.

However I do remember the post asking her about the choice of Mair as a username .... the reply said it was a Welsh name, not that it was her name.

While we are on the subject why do UKIP candidates dress like country squires on a grouse shoot?
not sure that they do, mostly they seem to wear lounge suits, shirts and ties and look quite smart (the men). Nuttall seems to have a quirky way of dressing, perhaps it's the cold weather oop north.

I would criticise their policies but not the way they dress.

Not as in Kama I'm afraid but Soutra Hill in Scotland, south of Edinburgh.

But Nuttall hasn't always dressed like that, nor did he used to have a beard. I'm just a bit bemused that he seems to have adopted this style specifically for Stoke and I've been wondering why.

It ( the forum) should be a place for all sorts of views, even ones that are very different from our own, and Mair tried to be polite when answering jibes, but was bound at times to attack back.I found the whole thing depressing, that a poster can be treated this way for having different political views

Well, she could be very rude (and she was to me) but she did come in for some awful flak when she first joined about her name, which was enough to put anyone on the defensive.
I am rather sorry she's gone because she was outrageous but livened things up no end.

Gosh I'm not sad she's gone. I worried about the underlying tone of her arguments which were undoubtedly xenophobic in tone. Since she's been gone it is much more civilised.

I still don't think anyone on this forum would have chosen that username.

I shouldn't worry though I bet she/he returns under another name. I wonder what she'll choose this time?

Nobody can ever assume that the person behind a username is who he/she says they are.

Many moons ago, I moderated a chatroom and it wasn't unknown for people to share a username. The reason they did it was to hide identifiable posting styles. There was one case where a little bunch of particularly spiteful posters shared a few usernames, so it became quite difficult to ban them all. They even had a stock of dormant usernames to be used when bans were enforced.

Jalima. Shouldn't that be down there? Nuttall comes from Bootle, which last time I looked at a map is north of Stoke.

Hmm...well certainly fewer posters have become almost apoplectic with anger! I was seriously worried for their health at one point!
