All this stuff citing Blairites and Labourites is barmy.

Dan Hodges and his mother ex Labour MP Glenda Jackson are obviously 'Labourite'. Uncontestable.

What is happening is anybody who does not agree with the far left of Labour or Jeremy Corbyn are either having their 'credentials' challenged as to their support to the Labour Party or being called 'Blairite' 'Tories'. Nothing new but more widely used to discredit/insult those who are not far left of Labour.

Labour MP Liz Kendle had to suffer the latter during the Leadership Contest and no doubt will continue to be chastised by the far left of Labour for as long as she remains a democratically elected Labour Member of Parliament. The fact is she showed more maturity in how she dealt with it than those who chose to call her a 'Tory'.

Dan Hodges seems to think he's a Labourite: "Over the past few weeks I had started to become genuinely despondent about what was happening to the Labour Party. I spent a fair part of my life working for Labour and the wider Labour movement. I obviously spend a lot of my time writing about it. A lot of my friends are, or once were, in the Labour Party. A lot of the people I most respect in public life are in the Labour Party."

Cameron just bringing together the speeches of Hunt and IDS, with a touch of Osborne.

Apparently the groom was a very powerful person in court as he had the ear, as well as the arse of the king! Oh joy!

The 'groom of the stool' wiped the monarchs backside, nothing to do with the privy council. The last monarch to have this services was Edward V1th. His groom was Sir Michael Stanhope who was subsequently executed for felony.

Indeed DC's speech was an attempt to negate their highly right wing unsympathetic image and the rise of JC could very well be a factor in the decision.

For me, as you will have noticed , that speech came across as cynical posturing, which I find entirely sickening.

I think you's find it difficult to find an article by him in the Telegraph to support the idea that he is a Labourite. Not looking because it will reduce the number of articles I can read that I want to read.
I bet he and his mother have lots of political arguments.

Dan Hodges (a Labourite if ever there was one) in the Telegraph, if I remember rightly, thinks Cameron's speech shifted the Cameron and the Conservative Party (because of the positive response DC's speech got at conference) towards the centre in political terms, rather than further to the right. I'll look for a link if anyone wants it.

Or of course CindySherman, the parents could do a bit of the teaching themselves. But that would require time off of Mumsnet which is obviously in such a short supply these days of want it all,right now.

oldbony - I don't think vitriolic language is exclusive to lefties. I felt parts of DC's speech came close. You say - and I paraphrase a bit - that because of the coalition DC was unable to put into practice(!) all that he would have liked. jinglbellsfrocks, I'm not suggesting that it gets tacked on to the curriculum as it is. I'm suggesting that the curriculum needs overhauling to allow space for it. How about less teaching for testing (at all ages) and more space for critical thinking? Then we might get an education system rather than a schooling system.
