I think this Pope is a rather clever man. He's taken the bull by then horns and said what he thinks - that the cartoons were insulting. Even the Pope is allowed an opinion and free speech.

Then by suggesting a punch on the nose, he is also saying that the barbarous attack by Islamist extremists (or whatever you prefer to call them) was not acceptable.

Had an insulted Muslim walked into the Charlie Hebdo offices and punched the editor on the nose no one very few people would have thought it undeserved. The Pope was perhaps talking about extremes of offence and extremes of responses and taking a metaphorical punch at both at the same time.

It's quite reasonable for at least half of the pope's sermons in the near future to be against violence. How will that tie in with his remark?

To anyone on here who might criticise others' posts as "bollocks", may I politely suggest they stop sounding like a fifteen year old in a temper tantrum. It smacks of desperation.

So Pope Francis can't preach "about half" his sermons? How do you arrive at that figure? Would 1/3 be OK? Or 1/4perhaps? How have you arrived at your proportion?
Get real. This is a fatuous observation attempting to show some insight into what a religious leader may or may not do. Of course he is highly unlikely to go around punching people, but mothers everywhere will be saying "Quite right too! You don' t pick on my mum!"

I dont see how the pope can preach about 1/2 of his sermons from now on after talking about punching someone.

No ambiguity either. I cant see how he can carry on being pope.
