Andy Williams has died

He certainly had a lovely voice and sang 'proper' songs, not like today's wannabees. Sometimes I feel the good old days are gradually fading away.....

I fell in love with Andy Williams back in the 1970s when everyone else was into punk and soul, so I had to keep it to myself! Used to play his records all the time and saw him in concert several times over the years. My favourite track of all has to be his version of Carol King's "It's too late" and sadly now it is . . . I always promised myself a trip to his Moon River Theatre in Missouri, I wonder if it will become a shrine like Elvis's Graceland?

my OH took me to see him at Albert Hall, was brilliant and also at Ipswich Regent nearer to us, he was nearly 80- thenbut was fantastic!! got standing ovation both times!!

such sad news, RIP Andy. His music will live on.

Along with Andy Williams, Johnny Matthis, Val Doonican, there was Perry Como - another smoothy, and his 'It's impossible' is one of my son in laws favourites, and he is only in his 50's. We have records/tapes/cds of all these, and they come out regularly, for a walk down memory lane.

GraniSuz. Yes I remember the Andy Williams shows. When my daughter heard he was gone she was going to ring me but thought I would be too upset to talk about it. When she was little she used to think it was a bit unfair that Cookie Bear never got his cookie!! Great shows they were.

I remember it and was only young - but I did watch a lot of telly and was allowed to stay up late.

Anyone remember Rowan and Martins's Laugh in? - Goldie Hawn was on it - she was about 20! The colours on i were amazing - lots of orange and purple - or am I imagining it - dont know if colour had arrived by then! Also the High Shaparel - was one of the first programs in colour.

OH! the High Shaparel - couldn't miss that -can't remember any of the story-lines - were they important? but I know we always watched.
