I loved that comment, plan your retirement, get a pension or you will end up like the Queen, still working at 86.

Alfie Bow and Renee Fleming, wonderful, I shall enjoy this as i know what it should sound like.

pompa Mon 04-Jun-12 21:10:08

LOL, it will take more than that to upset her. I'm sure she will be squirming if she is listening now, she is a control freak when it comes to broadcast quality. She may be at work atm, she is a news director and often covers the 10pm news.

How to upset DIL in one easy lesson!grin

pompa Mon 04-Jun-12 21:03:08

Perhaps it my sound system that is at fault then. OR am I just turning into a grumpy old man !. No - Alfie Bow on CD sounds great, it's definitely the BBC, I shall make complaints to my BBC contact (DIL)

jeni Mon 04-Jun-12 20:59:34

She sounded marvellous to me!
Oh the Queen is just here!

Anagram Mon 04-Jun-12 20:58:41

jeni! shock

pompa Mon 04-Jun-12 20:55:24

I felt so sorry for Renee Fleming, a great soprano, she might as well have sang with a bucket on her head. I do hope the live sound quality is good.

jeni Mon 04-Jun-12 20:54:11

I haven't seen the Queen yet! I wonder if Philip has died and they're keeping it quiet til after the service etc

dahlia Mon 04-Jun-12 20:48:18

Oh dear, Cliff should give it a rest now - I could have wept when he sang "The Young Ones" - let us live with our memories, Cliff!

jeni Mon 04-Jun-12 20:46:46

Glorious!

jeni Mon 04-Jun-12 20:43:42

Ah! Much better! I can listen to thissmile

jeni Mon 04-Jun-12 20:42:36

Yes!

yogagran Mon 04-Jun-12 20:41:11

Was she the one who sang while she was "hula-hooping" all the time? I came in halfway through and I couldn't believe that she could that. The hula-hooping was good though!

jeni Mon 04-Jun-12 20:38:00

What on earth now? Reminds me of the night I spent in the lox Hilton at the same time as a transvestite and dominatrix conference!

jeni Mon 04-Jun-12 20:31:28

Agreed!

pompa Mon 04-Jun-12 20:30:36

Jacey, it's not the artists I'm complaining about, I love Alfie Bow, Lang Lang, Jules Holland etc. But the sound being broadcast is awful, sounds like I'm listening to it on my 1960's trani, rather that my hifi. I'm sure a feed from someone's mobile phone would sound better.

It appears that they have their own mic's some way from the stage rather than connected into the sound system.

Ok Grace Jones is on now -- now that sounds pretty much as I would expect her to sound -- awful !

Jacey Mon 04-Jun-12 20:21:10

Would have agreed pompa until Alfie Bow came on!! flag

jeni Mon 04-Jun-12 20:20:17

Do you think it would improve it?
It can't be worse!

pompa Mon 04-Jun-12 20:15:00

If this thread is about tonight's Royal concert -- why oh why can't the BBC give us some decent sound quality, it is awful. it is an insult to the artists, surely in this age of technology they could get it right. angry

Jacey Mon 04-Jun-12 20:13:20

Oh ...and I see Zara has managed to put in an appearance tonight hmm

Jacey Mon 04-Jun-12 19:43:27

flag Well ...I like the stage layout ... and the sun's shining there!! flag

jeni Mon 04-Jun-12 19:41:02

Good grief! Is this singing? Who is this?
I'm going off!

Jacey Mon 04-Jun-12 19:34:38

Wow ...so they all rowed a further 10 miles!!
And on empty stomachs!!

What an achievementflag
