Guardianship

Has anyone applied for guardianship? My brother in law needs help with applying and managing a guardianship order.The solicitor has advised my husband and I to share this responsibility with him. The costs we were told are about £200 - £1000 however legal aid will pay for this. Would my husband and I have to pay for this process as well as my brother in law. All advise will be warmly welcomed. Help!

When I was teaching I sometimes helped families with guardianship orders but it was a while ago now and I think a few more details would be helpful as the process can vary quite a bit.

Elizabeth I seem to remember you're in Scotland where we still have functioning lea's. I'd suggest contacting the education authority if that's appropriate for the person's age.

Your local council Children's Services Dept may be able to advise you.
