Why do garages rip people off? My DF who is 84 broke the ignition switch and barrel in his car, before my husband (who had diagnosed the fault) could stop my dad he was on the phone to the garage that he has used for years and ordered the parts at a cost of £170+vat as they would have to tow the car and charge 2 hours labour for changing the part the final bill was to be £323+vat, which included a 10% discount, my DH bought the parts on line ( same brand as garage) and fitted them for a grand total of £14 !
I know garages add a mark up and agree that they should but surely this is just daylight robbery and taking advantage of an 84 year old
