Non-Walking Door Mats!

Can anyone recommend a doormat that doesn’t move on carpet? Heavy duty no longer seems to mean what it says as the rubber surrounds aren’t thick enough to keep them in place anymore . I’m fed up with having to keep moving them back into place although it’s quite easy considering how light most of them are! They are a constant trip hazard as my husband tends to shuffle his feet and the rubber starts to curl up on the edges. At the front door edge it gets caught in the door when the mat moves forward. Maybe it’s making a bid to escape! Any ideas please?

We have similar problems with doormats and hearthrugs. It seems to be related to the lie of the pile of the carpet underneath. Not a lot we can do about that!

I’ve had the problem ever since I replaced wool carpets with synthetic ones.

MayBee70: That may be the problem! We had our 25 year old wool carpets replaced 2 years ago. Not the same quality but cheaper as we probably won’t be around to enjoy them as long. I’m thinking of trying to staple the door mat to the floor but it’s concrete underneath the carpet underlay!

I kept buying mats to put in front of the fire but they just slipped around so I stopped using them. Mind you my partner has a wool mat on top of a synthetic carpet in front of his log burner and that stays in place. I use Hug rugs on tiles and they don’t slip. I do like having mats around but they just turn into trip hazards.
