Old fashioned yarn/string mop should do the job. Having tried all kinds of mops over the years, I've found them the best anyway. The base is only about 3in diameter and the strings get into small spaces. Best used with bucket with squeezy insert.

You can buy them with ribbon-like pieces of microfibre and a bucket.
They are the best types of mop, I find and I've tried so many different kinds!

This is Vileda, other similar makes available.

In fact, I'm going to order another one. Mine wore out and I've tried steam mops, squirty mops, ones where you place a washable pad on the end, you name it, I've tried it!

Mine is not dissimilar to the Vileda above, made by the same company and more importantly is machine washable. The 2 spares I bought were expensive but I should not have to worry for many months.

I spent hours searching on Amazon but mine fits the bill.

You can wash the skirting boards at the same time, which is not easy with other style mops.

Will the frame lift out for cleaning?

The frame is free standing and can just be pulled forward away from the toilet for cleaning purposes, they are not usually screwed to wall or floor.

The frame has a bar around the backs of toilet and bidet'' so I cannot pull it out. I'd like wall mounted hand rails , and will find out what they cost to instal.

Meanwhile, I really like the idea of an old fashioned mop and wringer bucket, especially the microfibre mop that would dry more easily.

We had a high toilet fitted when we had the bathroom redone, worth every penny we spent on it and it wasn't a lot more than and ordinary one. Just an idea for the future if you are putting wall bars on. Have a look at a Vileda magic mop. That has an angled head and may work.

I use a cotton washing up mop - bought them with 6 in a pack and they're the perfect fit for small, awkward places.

The Vileda string type mop is excellent - I have used the other one illustrated, and although it is ok, the strips of fabric are nothing like as efficient as the string type mop head. I can get mine around the back of a Victorian style radiator in the bathroom, where I have previously had to get down on all fours and wipe around the pipework. The string mophead whisks into the space very efficiently.

I received an appointment for February this year in the Urology Dept of my local hospital. Since then the appointment has been cancelled 7 times. I spoke to the Booking team, and while I realise there have been strikes I’m getting really fed up. The reason the appointments have been cancelled (the Booking Clerk told me) is because of holiday leave, time after time. I couldn’t speak to the Secretary of the Clinician because she’s on holiday!! Although I had tried her number previously, but there was no answer. A representative connected to the ‘waiting list’ team called me yesterday and gave me a new appointment date - Will this be cancelled as well?

Has anyone had one of those automatic robot type hoovers and if so did you find they successfully cleaned the floors? And did they last very long ie not need replacing quickly?

Had anyone had a robot type hoover that automatically hoovers the floors itself? If so did you find it did a good job and was it reliable?

I had one, it was ok for hard floors but needed a new battery after a few years then didn't last much longer after that.

They might be better now.

If you cannot find a string mop that is narrow enough, you can make one using a ball or two of cotton knitting yarn and a stick.

Cut the yarn into lengths twice the length you want each string to be and fold them over. Gather a suitable number of them into a bunch, insert the stick in the middle of the bunch then tie the mop-head firmly into place with one or two lengths of string or yarn.

This is how I make dolls' mops and feather dusters and it is, as far as I know how mops were made. My dolls mops and washing up brushes can be used, so this larger one should do the job too.

Oh! I seem to have about three balls of cotton knitting yarn (I think DD bought too much for doing craft at school), that's a good idea.

I was going to knit dishcloths but ..... so far haven't summoned up the enthusiasm.
