Steam cleaner

I wonder just how many other people have a dusty, rarely used steam cleaner in their cupboard or garage? Yes, my Vax one is great on hard floors and the attachment/hand held part is good on the oven. Still, can I be bothered to drag it out, set it up, add water - and wait for it to boil? Hardly ever! I dare not use it on laminate, prefer the carpet/floor washer (as it sucks up the dirty water) - and, mostly, surfaces only need a damp mop with 50/50 white vinegar and water, then a buff dry. On clothes, a clothes steamer is so much better.

My steam cleaner will soon be on its way to charity. It damaged my karndean floors and caused grout to break in shower room and bathroom floor tiles. It wont be a miss!

Reading your post Siope has just reminded me what tempted me to buy one. It was supposed to be great for cleaning the oven. I found it just made a big mess. Maybe it was my technique.

Oh, it’s not a Lakeland. I bought it there, but it’s actually a Shark.

I have a Lakeland one, which in theory will clean small and non-floor areas - the water tank detaches from the upright floors to r cleaning part, and there is a hose and various heads that attach.

I’ve had it close to ten years and used it about three times. It was crap at cleaning the oven, good at fully tiled walls, not great for taps, as none of the heads were really the right size/shape. The hose gets very hot, so you have to be careful about how you position it/yourself which is a nuisance.

BlueBelle. Sorry, no it is only a floor steamer. We have a small Vax Grime Master steamer which we use for cleaning wall tiles etc.

I bought one about 12 years ago called Little Yello. It looked very impressive on the adverts. I wish I hadn’t bothered. It was more trouble than it was worth and I felt it too tricky to use and not very effective. I’d imagine there must be more efficient types on the market now .

I m looking for advice apart from floors please

i have used a Vax steam cleaner for long time. Might be over 8 years now.

It does a great job especially on floors. Easy to use too.

I have to have a cleaner and she also rates using this steam cleaner along with friends who have helped me.

I want it mainly for bathroom tile large area, hard to reach high up now, tap areas and downstairs sink taps etc etc
(loo/ kitchen floors are secondary)
Do all these work well with the areas I’m looking for please?

Not had any come in the charity shop Meryl mine is probably not a very affluent area

Very happy with present Shark floor steam mop. It is the third one I have had and the best.

I use our wallpaper remover steamer for the kitchen and bathroom tiles.
I have a small one bought from the middle isle bargains in Lidl.
We have 3 steamers in our charity shop, all donated.

Does it have other uses Patsy ! I m not so bothered about the floor

I’m very happy with my Vileda steam cleaner, which is used two or three times a week on the kitchen and laundry room floors, especially during the wet weather.

the floor yes, but more for the bathroom tiles, tap area round loos rugs, clothes etc
Twice in four years not much need for it them mel why haven’t you used it ? I have an old Victorian house which has a lot of areas it’s hard to get to unless on your hands and knees I was trying to cut down on the elbow grease and do a better job that I can

Sorry bluebell you meant the floor cleaning one? Yes I can recommend the Vax one too, they seem to be the 'go to' make, 3 people recommended it to me and I am well pleased with it.

I've got a Vax Grime Master BlueBelle, was wonderful as I definitely needed to 'master' the grime when I moved into this house! It came with a a small ' hoover' type head and two sizes of brush heads. Fantastic now for grouting, around hobs, taps as well as garden furniture etc.
midgey I have done this too with gadgets, then realised I didn't use/need it or the bargain item lasted forever, about 50/50 I'd say.

My house proud sister raves about this one, and her house is always gleaming.

No Midgey I work in a charity shop, never had one come in, but anyway I want to treat myself, was hoping some on here might have them already to give me tips and advice

I’ve seen several in charity shops, may be a cheaper option to help you make your mind up.
