Karcher window cleaners and alternatives

All this talk of cleaning windows has made me notice the marks still on mine from Christmas stickers! Weather too nice to do it today, another job on the list for ‘tomorrow’! Also a Karcher fan, they’d never get done without that.

I`d love one, but my problem is being able to reach as I can`t climb step ladders any more, and the Karcher doesn`t seem to have a long handle.

We just have the hand-held one but I have seen a neighbour use one with a pole/long handle. They must be available, have you Googled?

My husband has one and hates it. I don’t know why but he refuses to use it.

I have a window cleaner to do the outside and a daily woman to do all the inside cleaning to my satisfaction using mainly elbow grease!

JackyB, those windows shown in the video are available in this country. A local block of flats had them installed throughout about five years ago. Ideal for flats. I was so taken with them that I nearly purchased one of those flats - but glad I did not as I now have one that is much bigger and nicer. Being on first floor, I have no problem with getting window cleaner for outsides and I do insides (just a couple of times a year) with my Karcher.

I've had Karcher window cleaner for about 3 years. Used it regularly for two years. Last year I started to find it heavy to hold and manoeuvre and have since gone back to using one if those window wiper blades. I do use the Karcher liquid in the spray bottle, spread it over with a fluffy stick. I have also just put some luquid in a bucket of water and used a cloth to spread as I like to wipe the window frames too. Just wonder about your sciatica and holding a Karcher.

The only Karcher appliance I ever bought ( a pressure washer) broke down the day after the guarantee ran out, which was the second time it was used, so I have not been tempted by their products since.

Perhaps I was just unlucky.

I got a cheaper one in Lidl a couple of years ago but hardly use it. DH cleans windows and didn't find it useful

I have had a Karcher window cleaner for a couple of years now, and use it mainly in the bathroom. But, last week, after our lovely window cleaner had been, I was motivated to clean the insides, using the bottle and spray. Afterwards I just wiped the windows over with a micro cloth. It was a success.

I had the Karcher one. It just stopped working. I suspect built in obsolescence.

Had a Karcher which stopped working, now have Titan one, all good so far with this new one.

I got a Vax window cleaner but was not very pleased with it, I gave up after a few months and got a Karcher, it is brilliant. I am disabled and do not have much 'grip' but I can manage the Karcher

I have a Karcher. After half a dozen attempts it now resides on a shelf in the utility room and I use a window cleaning cloth that I bought at Asda.
The Karcher left streaks. The cloth, which is used with plain water does a brilliant job and was a fraction of the price.

How heavy are they, if Jane43 has a back problem she may find it too heavy to lift to the top of the window without straining her back and aggravating her sciatica.

I have had my Karcher for years and love it.

I put a karcher window vac on my Xmas list and was lucky to get one.
It's good on my glass shower screen and mirror wardrobe doors. Just do the edges with kitchen roll or a cloth if I don't get it exact and I turn it sideways for a curved glass door
It's the basic vac model and I'm very pleased with it HTH

I was happily cleaning my windows today with my Karcher and was using the microfibre attachment and as mine is the older style it has a handle. Two largish windows two doors and the porch window done I changed the water to come inside. As I was cleaning the inside lounge window a large blob of fluff fell out into the water. It was a dead mouse! I just hope I didnt drown it and do not know how it got there. Obviously a present from my cats. Yes I love my Karcher but prefer it without a present :-)

I use a chargeable Kleeneze one and it was much cheaper that a Karcher. I spray Nilglass on ( from Lakeland ) and then windowvac off. It's a bit awkward due to its shape at the bottom of the frame, but if there is not much liquid in the reservoire I use it sideways on. It does a good job on the shower screen and mirrors too.

I have an old karcher window vac, unearthed if from the depths of a cupboard and now use it in the shower. It is very good

Outside windows I use ungers window gear, always get very nice clean windows and cills, I won`t be using the window vac on them
