Hot water dispensers

We have one at work. It’s quick and simple and being plumbed in never tastes ‘re-boiled’, BUT if you drink tea the water is never hot enough in my opinion. Consequently, I only drink coffee at work and drink tea (my preferred choice) at home where I can use a kettle. The water dispenser at work can splash too, although I have to say I have only ever done it once or twice in the last six years as the experience of being splashed with near boiling water taught me to be very cautious.

The Quooker tap is brilliant. I wouldn't bother with the cube (filtered, chilled & sparkling water as well) but the boiling tap is well worth it. Safer and more efficient than a kettle

It sounds like in a few years' time no one will have a kettle any more. It does make sense to just boil what you need and not to have to lift a container full of scalding water. This would have been ideal for my mother.

I wonder when the technophobe Germans will catch on. I would love one. Although it does sound a bit like a contraption we used to have back in student days - a sort of water heater above the sink which you could set to boil to make tea if necessary. Very handy in our simple little room in the roof.

Oofy - child safety is the reason I do not have one too.

I also wonder about its electricity consumption.
