Stupid question - I think.

I use mine at the same time too - I don't think they are using the water at the same time - once the dishwasher is full it takes forever to get to the next cycle anyway. I do tend to leave the washer until we've finished in the bathroom though as it does affect the water pressure supplying the shower.

If your appliances were plumbed in by a professional, there shouldn't be a problem. I use mine at the same time. Most modern washing machines are cold fill and I think dishwashers have always been cold fill. As long as your mains pressure is normal there shouldn't be a shortage of water.

Think this depends on your plumbing. We once ruined a.washing machine doing this as the mechanics were working without enough water in it.

I don't have a dish washer but am employed as a posh old house cleaner - I don't ever run two machines at one time , I'm frightened for too much water drawing in from the mains , then draining all at one time .
Same as when I'm in my own shower, I don't use the washing machine at the same time . Maybe I'm wrong but I seem to remember huge variations on temperatures if someone ran the downstairs tap ! Aaagh !

Dishwashers don't use much water so there shouldn't be a problem

I often have them going together and must admit I've never given it a thought. I'm pretty sure DH (who knows everything) would have put me right if it was something I shouldn't do - he usually does.

I frequently have both running but I allow the washing machine to fill up first before I start the dishwasher so that both are not filling up at the same time and they do not appear discharge at the same time either. I appear to have mine well worked out.

Me too, often in together. No problems - so far.

I do this all the time. I've never considered the water supply in fact it's not unusual for someone to be in the shower too.

My problem is if they both discharge water at the same time, then the drain overflows!

Never had a problem with doing that.

I often do it, even though I was told by the plumber years ago that I shouldn't . I do usually wait, though, until the washing machine has finished filling up before turning the dishwasher on. After that, it's first come first served when it comes to taking in water

Both now finished, with no ill effects!

Don't know if I'd make a habit of it, though.

I think it would all depend on the water pressure coming from your mains supply. Ours isn't great.

Heebie Jeebies stupid iPad

I don't think it's a stupid question. I only have one machine on the go at one time and I won't run the bath and a machine at the same time as I once somehow had an airlock which just gave me the heebie jefe bikes until it was sorted. I'm sure I'm wrong but I don't want to experiment in case I'm right iyswim.

It will not be a problem, even if they happen to fill at the same moment, they will just fill slower. Our problem is that both are on the same fused outlet and it both heat together, the fuse blows.

Unless your machines are really old they will be cold fill only so as the water is coming via the mains its not going to run out any time soon. I often have both running at the same time.

I have both washer and dishwasher on the go at the moment and all is well.

I often do this. Doesn't mean it's right though!
