Wildfires West Midlands

It’s really awful for those poor people, particularly where fires have been started deliberately and they have lost their homes, I don’t think that’s something you ever get over. I’m over fifteen miles from a really large wildfire, and I can vouch for how the smoke affects you, even at that distance, it’s horrible - last night we couldn’t even open the windows to let out some heat.

So sad, and so worrying.

So sad. Can’t imagine what those home owners whose houses have burned to the ground must be feeling. Or those who escaped a train derailment near Lewes when allegedly rails buckled with the heat.
This is not a British summer with over 60 days without rain and temps more suited to the Middle East or Australia in December. And it isn’t over yet with no rain in sight in areas hardest hit.
And it isn’t a one off, for the past few years temps have been rising in Europe in the summer, indeed Europe is warming as a continent much more than anywhere else in the world.
How many lives have been lost?
How much of Europe’s treasured countryside and wildlife has been wiped out.
Some will hold out that this is just a fluke, like 1976. It isn’t. The science spells it out. This is climate change.

They were advising people on the news last night to get together a bag of things you might need to take with you if your house catches fire. I can’t quite believe that this is happening but it’s as if it isn’t happening . And people are still having barbecues. I’m worried because my house is surrounded by trees and some of the foliage overhangs my roof. And there are dead dry leaves lying everywhere.

Those houses😮😮.

That doesn’t happen in this country!!

I feel so sad for the people whose houses have burnt down, particularly when they had so little time to take what was precious to them. Where would you start to recover after something like that?
