Anyone had any experience living with a husband with Othello syndrome? Delusional jealousy? I called my GP for advice on how to handle this and she said there is nothing we can do without his permission. However, he feels his jealousy is real.
I have never been unfaithful.

I would phone 111 for additional advice. Your gp doesn’t sound very proactive?

If he won’t admit and get help you do need help. Maybe MIND would be able to help you or at least point you in the right direction. It is a very rare disorder.

Never heard of this, but you do need advice and help in case it turns out to be a Why Oh Why Delilah situation.

Tell your GP that this situation is badly affecting your mental health, sleep and general health. Then ask them how he (the GP) can help you cope and maintain your health. Then the GP is talking about you and not your DH. Good luck, hugs

I have just looked it up. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pathological_jealousy and read a few other references.

Has your husband been clinically diagnosed with this syndrome? If he hasn't, he needs to be. One site described it as a serious psychotic mental condition.

Most of all, you must look after yourself and any children in the family and talk openly to older children. People with this problem can become bullying and possibly violent and try to limit your behaviour and where you go. Your safety and that of any others in the house must become your main priority. Start planning a temporary refuge in case you have to move out at short notice and start planning ahead.

The best organisation to contact is Mind

I also looked this up and it sounds really serious, as M0nica has said contact Mind and if life is walking on a knife’s edge with him pack your bags and get out.
Wishing you all the best with this
