Welcome. This thread is in support of those who wish to share their mental health problems as they affect their daily lives, share aspects of our lives supportively and give and take support. And is a continuation of Black Dog 29.
It’s been going for some time, so this is a jump in at the deep end.
All are welcome- don’t be put off by some of us being here long term - people come and go

Evening all. Another lovely day with friends. So very hot still.
Hope you’re all ok. Xx

Scaredycat Tue 11-Aug-26 18:59:36

Hi all
Back from the Sea and a happy day with DD and SiL- we so enjoy being with them. It was break for SiL as his Dad is still in hospital after his hip operation.
Wyllow- There was a quite strong breeze which was lovely - it’s somewhere we really like and so good to see families enjoying the beach and sea.
You probably needed a nightie day after your lovely busy weekend.
EllieAnne- those furries are doing what cats do. When they are in they want to go out and vice versa!! But I would be scared like you if I was looking after them. Sorry your time out was cut short. Make sure you get out though - you need a break.
Nadateturbe - nice to hear you,ve had a better day
HVDY- I feel like you do over BP readings - I just wish I never had to do one.
My friend is frightened and has so many problems. Then Friday her DS1 had a detached retina operation so won’t be able to drive for 6 weeks. It’s just one thing after another.
There is another friend we always see together on Mondays and we get on so well and despite everything always have a good natter together.
No wonder you are tired that’s a busy day for you especially in this heat. LG probably was tired too hence the strop!!
Dreading the next few days of heat - at the seaside it was lovely to feel the breeze.
SweetPeaSue- hope you are OK and DH still dad dancing.
When is your holiday if you go?

Love to all - wishing you a cool night

HowVeryDareYou2 Tue 11-Aug-26 17:31:51

nadateturbe You're not a wuss. Those BP machines are awkward. My GP is obsessed with my BP. It all gets on my nerves. Glad you felt able to drive to the hospital. Hope you bought yourself something nice to eat.

ScaredyCat 7 hours of work in this heat! How was your friend? Hope you had a lovely day out. Perfect weather for being at the seaside.

Wyllow3 A rest day for you today. That's what you need. I'm so tired - LG was here, 9.30 until 5. I'm looking forward to a very lazy day on Thursday.

EllieAnne You must have needed a sleep. It's been too warm here in Nottingham - 27 degrees, but 32 tomorrow and 36 on Thursday. I hate it. About the cats - could you let them out, but get them in at teatime?

Busy day with LG - Park, fed ducks, went on the slide, etc. Then more shopping, back here for lunch, sandpit, paddling pool (her little one), crayoning, Tom & Jerry. Parents came at 5. LG had a massive tantrum when Mum said she couldn't have her dummy (even though she'd brought it here). We could hear her screeching outside at their car shock. Hope everyone else has been ok x

EllieAnne Tue 11-Aug-26 13:25:16

Had a strange thing happen yesterday. I sat on the sofa about one. I wasn’t feeling sleepy just a bit drained with the heat us Scots. Aren’t used to it. Then it was 3,30 and I came to in the middle of a disturbing dream. It wasn’t like drifting into a sleep. Just one minute I was there then I wasn’t . Strange,

nadateturbe Tue 11-Aug-26 12:39:48

Thanks folks for understanding. The good thing is I was able to drive to the hospital to leave it back with a typed letter for the cardiologist. And I'm now going into Tesco. A good day. 😃.
I hope to chat later. I have been reading posts.. Love to you all.xxxxx

Wyllow3 Tue 11-Aug-26 12:28:08

Oh...just as you went for a bit of R and R. It is hard to keep then in but I would do exactly the same as you and caution first.

But do go for another bit of R and R when you can. xxx

EllieAnne Tue 11-Aug-26 12:24:16

Hvdy the 3 legged one responds to treats but the young ones ddon’t. They are sitting staring out the patio doors and I feel so guilty but I can’t go through all that again.

Been to a garden centre this morning but got a message from dd To say a parcel was arriving so rushed back to find it on the doorstep

Wyllow3 Tue 11-Aug-26 12:21:38

Thank you HVDY, phew, I got the feeding hedgehog bit really wrong, I should have googled before posting.

Ooo, I hope you have a sea breeze and a good time out Scaredycat. Pop me in your handbag for the day, ta.

nadateturbe oh you poor love - you are not not grumbling at all. It would drive up my BP and probably drive down my Oxygen levels down fretting about the wretched thing. Hugs and more gentle waves music. Or Radio 3 unwind.
They need to find a better solution to get an accurate picture xx

I'm knackered after yesterday so just pottering, still in nightie amongst the Great Unwashed.

EllieAnne how are things?

Scaredycat Tue 11-Aug-26 10:11:38

Hi all
Sorry I was absent yesterday but we had our hot water tank thingy replaced yesterday and it took 7 hours!! I left DH to it at 2 as I went to see my poorly friend and do a couple of chores.
It was hot again and so I was as usual knackered. Not moaning just reporting!!
Today We are going to the Seaside with DH and SiL- as HVDY says we never turn down an invitation!! It’s so hot but hopefully there,ll be a sea breeze.
Hope do be in later.
Nadateturbe- those BP machines are the Devils work!! I only have to look at one and my BP skyrockets!
Doodle - have a wonderful Birthday week - many happy returns🎂🎂🎂🎂
See you all later. Stay cool and have the best day you canxxxx

nadateturbe Tue 11-Aug-26 08:30:48

I must sound such a wuss. Just a bit fed up, 3 days of about one hour of energy each day. Had to make a huge effort to get to the hospital.

nadateturbe Tue 11-Aug-26 08:24:07

I've had a 24 hour blood pressure monitor on since yesterday. I took it off from 3am-7am. So uncomfortable and couldn't sleep waiting for the next measurement. I'm sure it put my BP up. And the point of wearing it was to check low blood pressure. Why can't the cardiologist trust my own measurements? No doubt she'll not be happy. Or why can't they give you a monitor to use at home that records all the data?
Sorry feeling really grumpy. And wearing the stupid thing when you've got small arms is so uncomfortable, it's much stiffer than my own monitor and a huge tube dangling. Oh well only an hour to go.

HowVeryDareYou2 Tue 11-Aug-26 07:42:47

SweetpeaSue If you decided to leave anything out for the hedgehog, don't make it bread OR milk. Those things make them ill. Wet or dry cat/dog food are suitable, and a shallow bowl of water.

HowVeryDareYou2 Tue 11-Aug-26 07:36:41

Wyllow3 I'm so pleased you had such a good visit to your son's. Those times with family are so precious. Not too long before you see them again. I hope GOSH will be able to include your GD in the trials. She must get so exhausted by the fits. Not nice at all.

SweetpeaSue Sketchers are so comfortable, aren't they? I'd never wear anything else now. Hope you have a lovely time with Fluffball and your grandson. I suggested to DH and the girls yesterday that we have a walk along the riverside - they all looked at me as though I'd lost the plot! It was too warm, anyway. Got all 3 girls tomorrow (it's going to be 32 degrees).

Wyllow3 Tue 11-Aug-26 00:00:19

in soft play not I'm soft play.

Wyllow3 Mon 10-Aug-26 23:59:51

Me helping heave L up I'm soft play

Wyllow3 Mon 10-Aug-26 22:49:20

Oh wow....you must put out some crumbs or whatever appeals to hedgehogs!

Sweetpeasue Mon 10-Aug-26 22:33:43

Thanks Wyllow
Just seen a hedgehog trundling down our back lawn.☺️

Sweetpeasue Mon 10-Aug-26 21:50:34

Wyllow You crept in behind me.
What a great visit. Makes all the difference when you can use your own skills and way of communicating rather than feel out of your comfort zone.
Oh I do hope DGDL can be helped in the trial at Great Ormind St.
Sketchers white and dusky pink.

Dont like the sound of those Wattsapps from difficult Q . Hope it wont set you back .
Take care - youll be glad of a rest after your journey back.

Wyllow3 Mon 10-Aug-26 21:45:05

Ooo, white and dusty pink, how lovely. A gap in my line of Sketchers.

A forest walkway in the heat with DGS sounds spot on. I hope it goes well and as happy as it may be health wise.

Sweetpeasue Mon 10-Aug-26 21:38:50

Doodle As HVDY said-- no explanation needed.
Just have a great week with your friends. 😊
HVDY My son and his wife went to Poland and they said pretty much what you have said, especially the cleanliness. Nice people too.
My trainers were white and dusky pink ( 2nd pair got 30 % off) Now have 3prs so Im chuffed.
Ooh you have been busy - no wonder you're cream- crackered🤣
We have Fluffball tomorrow and are picking up our DGS - so looking forward to seeing him. We'll be going to the Forest Walkway again - theres also a kids play area.

Wyllow3 Mon 10-Aug-26 21:33:00

It was an extraordinary visit given my fears and feelings before. It needs som time to sink in but booked to go up in early October. Each grandchild, a jewel, precious moments, DGS aged a slightly moody 14 willingly carried my bag to the car on request (deliberate, rather than needful).
All known better now, and it was OK to be a gentle receptive gran not a jumping around one.

The drive back was a bit grim but on arrival to my town I went to the gym enroute to flop away the stiffness before home.
I have managed to save the dry big sunflowers water wise.

Issues with difficult Quaker won’t go away unwanted WhatsApp’s but I am not making any moves as another is helping. Oh, I should have kicked of big time and with clarity much earlier, in retrospect, ^much should never have happened and I will make sure it doesn’t disappear as an example.

Later this month DS takes DGDL down to Great Ormond street hospital to see if L is OK to be part of a trial operation which could mean a 80-90% reduction in her epileptic fits, leaving her less at risk and less tired, more able to be her best.

Doodle I am just happy for you that those around you and love you want to make the week special for you. Watch out for the heat however! X

Yes Sweetpeasue few have lived without adversity and it makes us who we are depending on how we respond, and although there are guides, there are few blueprints and no magical solutions. I’ve had a lot of help on my journey as well as bad treatment at times.
Yes, I can recall that episode of the Vicar.

Yay to new Sketchers, yes, what colour are they?

I’m glad to hear that your eyes are better today, HVDY. What a lovely and productive day with your two GD’s, and I bet they love the pub lunch treat and all you do with them. No wonder you are knackered.

EllieAnne you have been in my thoughts today on that drive and the cats and loving greetings to all BD’s.

HowVeryDareYou2 Mon 10-Aug-26 20:47:38

EllieAnne Would you be able to let the cats out but tempt them back in with some Dreamies or Lick-e-Lix? The cat in the photo looks very relaxed smile.

SweetpeaSue I haven't been to Poland (yet - but will go). On YouTube, it looks gorgeous - spotless, clean, scenic, great architecture, safe, and like parts of England once was, years ago. My eyes are much better today, thanks. It must have been to do with the pollen, I think. It's going to be 32 on Wednesday and 35 on Thursday! What colour Sketchers did you get? I love them.

Doodle No explanation needed. Enjoy your week as much as you can.

How's everyone else been?

We picked up our 2 GDs at 8.45, took the eldest for a Podiatry appointment then back here for a late breakfast and a couple of hours in the garden. Pub lunch, then a bit of shopping, and then they and DH went in our pool. They love it. Took them home for 5.45. My friend rang for 90 minutes. Knackered. LG tomorrow. x

Doodle Mon 10-Aug-26 20:09:09

Forgive me all but I will only be posting short messages this week. It is my birthday week and I am blessed to have several invitations out to lunch, I have to leave early in the morning and not getting home till late. I’m quite tired so apart from popping in to say hello. I’ll be keeping it brief, hope you’re all ok xx

Sweetpeasue Mon 10-Aug-26 16:19:00

EllieAnne He/she looks rather mischievous and quite a handful. Hope you're having no more trouble. Might be better as they get to know you, as you say, though I know nothing of cat behaviour.
Wyllow Its just wonderful that it been such a good visit and of course you deserve a happy family time- no one can help having such mental illness like bi-polar . Misfortune in life isnt spared many , I think. Hope the pulled pork was good.
Doodle I think the heat can drain us too. You have so many friends taking you out as a birthday treat its impossible to diet. Reminds me of that Christmas edition of vicar of dibley when she had to eat all the Christmas dinners!
HVDY*Iinteresting that you have taken to Poland so much. Ive never been - what's it like? Hope your eyes are a bit better today - strange the antihistamines not helping. Oh I do feel for you during this coming heatwave. Its 22 here today I think.
Scaredycat How are you today? Ive been and got some new Sketchers , theyre so comfortable.

Wyllow3 Sun 09-Aug-26 22:35:19

Yoga of the highest order, and naughty to boot, EllieAnne. all the best handling her/him.
