Anyone wanting company in the night there’s a tread for you entitled ‘Thread two for the 3am crew’ Everyone welcome for a chat a moan or whatever you want

It depends. On the 3 mornings I work I am in the shower at 6am. Days I don’t work any time between 8/9am. Up at 7-30 on Sundays for church. Lie in with tea in bed on Saturdays reading the papers.

According to how tired I am I go to bed anytime between 9-30 and midnight. Sometimes I read sometimes I go straight to sleep

I go to bed at 10 and don’t always sleep well. I get up a lot in the night for the toilet. I wake about half past 8 when my husband makes me a cup of tea but don’t get up until nearly 10 most days. I would love to be an early riser but just can’t do it.

What time you go to bed and get up is personal to you and your body clock. I go to bed around 11 and get up around 9/9.30am. I have never been a morning person and now I am retired can please myself about what time to get up. Some of my friends are horrified, they still get up at silly o'clock in the morning, just as they did when they were working. Not for me! Each to their own!

I go to bed at around 11.00 and get up anytime between 6,00 and 8.
I do love to have a cuppa in bed in the morning though.
Sunshine is my motivation in the morning.

I'm retired. I don't get up early unless I have somewhere to be.

Maybe 10 is too early for you?
I assume you're not drinking caffeine in the evening as this will be in your system for hours and prevent your nodding off.
You get up in the night a lot. Maybe you shoulkd limit your evening drinks and drink more in the mornings/early afternoon? Maybe you should have your bloods checked to see if you're not pre-diabetic? Do you also gto the toilet a lot in the daytime? Maybe you are just drinking too much?
Our daytime habits really do impact on the quality of our sleep.
10 o clock would be too late for me but I rise as soon as I wake up. You are very lucky to be brought tea in bed!
If you are not an early riser then stop trying to be one. However, 12 hours of being in bed is too much and not healthy so maybe just go to bed around midnight?

I never go to bed before 10.30 and it is usually 11.30 before I settle for sleep. On a good night I am ready to get up around 8 am, but if I sleep badly, like last night when I was awake from 3.30- 5.15 but then dropped off, it was 9 am before I got up, really late for me.
None of this matters unless I have a deadline needing an early start, which is rare. Just relax and do what feels best for you.

I got to bed about 9 but wake most mornings before 6. I can't sleep any later no matter what time I go to bed. It suits me. I can stay up later if im going out but otherwise about 9

Depending on how tired I am, I go to bed at any time between say 9.30 and midnight. I’m often awake a lot in the night, for the loo, and reading, not to mention coming downstairs, to make a cup of tea.

I might be up at 7.30 or it might be nearly 9 - so unless I have to be up, in which case I set the alarm - I get up when I wake up and feel like it. If it’s 6.30 I will usually go back to sleep or read for a bit.
One of the joys of retirement (for me anyway) is that I don’t often have to get up for anything particular.

The ‘Wakey Wakey - time to get up’ thread on chat maybe interesting Quietlife.

Does it bother you and make you miserable Quietlife? Why ‘just can’t do it? Are you in poor physical or mental health?

My usual bedtime is after 1am, actually nearer 2, then I wake just before 6am.
I don’t need a lot of sleep and I never nap during the day, unless I’m unwell.
I’m 75 now, widowed and live alone, so I get up, make tea and potter until it’s time to start my day - I meet someone most weekday mornings for coffee.
