All done! It was fine. I can’t say I enjoyed the pre treatments or the procedure itself very much. However, the staff were wonderful and couldn’t have been more reassuring and kind. Taking it easy today as I had the sedation… good excuse! They said it was exceedingly large and doesn’t look suspicious but they send them all off just in case. Well done NHS.
You are allowed a wobble .... but in the context of rational perspective. I am sure you will be fine. None of us like our bodies interfered with ... I have had years of people poking around in my heart! .... but these guys know what they are doing and would not prpose anything that was not intended to safeguard your well-being.
The fact that they have waited for an experienced surgeon is hugely reassuring and must give you confidence. I always tell myself that these procedures are everyday to the surgeons and that gives me confidence. Good luck with it all.
I had a large polyp removed a few years ago, along with several smaller ones and all was well. You will have an experienced surgeon. A sedative at the time will help but maybe your GP would prescribe a short course of anti-anxiety medication to help in the days leading up to your procedure?
I am due to have a Polypectomy on Thursday and have just read all the pre procedure information and am now feeling very nervous. I was fine with the colonoscopy and the sigmoidoscopy but having read about the possible complications, I am now feeling incredibly anxious. The chances of a perforated bowel are higher when it is a large polyp which mine is. It is also in an awkward position apparently and I had to wait for a level three surgeon to do the procedure as the one who did the sigmoidoscopy was level one. I have a tendency to start shaking uncontrollably during hospital procedures. I shook the whole two and a hours during my pacemaker insertion and was surprised they could still do it! Just looking for some reassurance.
