This thread is for support and queries arising from injections and other treatments…please be kind..

Know from another thread, some comments/opinions are very judgmental…obesity is a condition which affects a lot of people..we shouldn’t feel bad about trying to lose weight in any form…

I’ve only told 2 people as it seems many have strong views against the weight loss injections but, surely, whether we can get tier 3 NHS treatment or, private treatment, shows we’re acting responsibly for our individual health

Wondering how many people are struggling alone?

how many are struggling alone with weight issues?

I’ve had gastric issues this week after my Monday dose .. in fact emergency bathroom visits 😱
Today all ok and feel calmer … have dropped a size and this feels very motivating ..😊

😩

Took my first (2.5) dose 2 hours ago. I was so nervous doing the jab but didn't feel a thing. Haven't lost any weight yetgrin

Bea65 Mon 25-May-26 13:21:07

Mt62 did you experience severe symptoms ? I was aware that you could get mild to moderate but last week it was definitely severe😩

On week 8 - am considering stopping for 2wks due to scheduled trip to USA and don’t wish to experience this type of emergency on flights🤞🤞

Bea65 Mon 25-May-26 13:25:58

bohemian congrats on starting - yes I don’t like injections either but just take a deep breath. I still look at the instruction leaflet .. as am a nervous Nelly!! You might see a little bruise now or couple days later and this is normal…
Update us on your journey🙏

Hi , I have a question, does any pharmacist sell these jabs eg Boots, superdrug, well, or Lloyds? Or do you have to go online?
Just been to see a Cardiologist this morning who has put me on blood thinners for AF . Am at least 3 st overweight but struggling so much to lose weight. She told me that she herself has been on Ozempic since xmas and has lost 11kilos and told me to consider it.
Also it has started showing good results for heart problems !! She didn’t offer to write a prescription for it though! She just said it was expensive but worth it.
I’m 69.
Any thoughts?

Well, (I took dose 3 yesterday (Sun) and so far have lost the princely sum of 2lbs, which I'm disappointed at but, well, it's a startsad. Have decided to stay with 2.5 dose for a few more weeks as today my appetite is slacking, couldn't even fancy a Kit-Kat with my coffee - so Things Are Improvinggrin.

57VRS Because of my age a lot of the private suppliers wouldn't supply me with Mounjaro, but I finally got mine, after jumping through hoops, with Bolt. I believe a lot of chemists do sell the jabs but they are a lot more expensive than online.

57VRS Hi, am on Mounjaro and see the pharmacist @ Lloyd’s Pharmacy .. he weighs me and also measures my BP each time ..
I did have a bout of diarrhoea when I went up to 5ml but now all ok
Ive also got to lose 3stone and in 3 mths Ive lost 16lbs and turned 70 last week
Hope you find a pharmacist u feel comfortable talking too .. mine is great and because I have repeat meds every 2mths he’s looking out for any potential issues.. mine is a private prescription although my BMI was 34 and have high BP and cholesterol I wasn’t eligible for NHS script didn’t qualify - but my niece up north did and her BMI is only 30.. and doesn’t have other health issues..
Update us when you can🤞

Been thinking about trying the jabs for a while so spoke to my Doctor who thought the benefits far outweighed the risks.
Just signed up with an online chemist and can’t wait to get started, first jabs arriving in the next few days.

Bea65 Thu 18-Jun-26 13:58:55

Sheba yes I was very keen to start except I still don’t like injecting myself and I do bruise easily so be aware - my bruises seem quite large
which online chemist have u ordered from if u don’t mind me asking ?

Sheba Thu 18-Jun-26 14:18:10

I used ‘Simple Pharmacy’, it was one my Dr said a few of her patients had used.
They all seem to be very similar in all honesty, questionnaire and need to send a photo seems standard.

Very quickly delivery, received today.

?send a photo of what… your body 😳

I have been doing Wegovy for a few months now and I have dropped a stone so far. I hadn't read anything about loss of muscle mass so not sure how prevalent this is. I intend to keep on taking it.

Sheba excuse my earlier comment…I’d forgotten that online they require or request a photo to ? Confirm starting body weight..and there are some amazing weight loss photos…am glad I don’t need to do this with my face to face monthly appt with pharmacist

So many suppliers are advertising weight loss jabs and soon pills and they all seem to be competing on price for the first month but are curiously reticent about ongoing prices
Voy, Bolt, SheMed, Chequp, Asda, Morrisons, Boots, Juniper and no doubt many more.
I am very tempted.
How to choose between them?
Does anybody have a recommendation or, indeed, horror stories?

Hope im allowed to say pharmacy I use.
I started almost a year ago with online pharmacy called MedExpress
Had to send pics to prove i was overweight (I guess). They contacted my GP, she is more than happy for me to be using mounjaro.
As is my physio, orthopedic surgeon even my dentist lol
I don't think they are particularly cheap but ive had no issues with them
Im only losing slowly but have lost nearly 3stone since January 2025 so more than happy. Im a size 12 for first time in many many years
No longer need knee replacement. Feel so much fitter
Love how I look
Was in Spain last week and was able to walk about in comfort instead of puffing and panting
Ive had no side effects except a bit of constipation early on just took fibrogel for a few weeks
Hope this helps
Sorry for waffling but this drug has changed my life

So timely to find this thread. I have been thinking about trying these injections for a while and did ask on our online services if the doctor would have anything against it. I don’t think it got to a doctor, just a curt reply to say they don’t prescribe. (Before the NHS did). I wasn’t asking for a prescription.
I am very overweight. My legs are like trunks. My blood pressure is still too high despite being on three medications to bring it down. At the moment, I am finding it hard to walk, or even do the simplest tasks. I have a pacemaker and heart failure, waiting for an echocardiogram (long waiting list). I just wanted to know if it would be safe to take it but reading the posts on here, it seems as if it could actually be quite beneficial. Thank you for giving me something positive to consider.

So pleased you have had such positive results Ziggy62.

My daughter very nervously took her first injection today. Like so many she's struggled badly with her body chemistry working against her for so long and was despairing.

I'll pass on - anonymously obvs - all stories on here as they're inspirational. Thank you all.

Bea65 Wed 24-Jun-26 18:48:45

So pleased to hear inspiring stories.. and unless u can get an NHS prescription , I do find it expensive but it’s for my overall health and well being - am severely restricted mobility wise to exercise daily so this is truly working for me re snacking cravings .. and next week I see pharmacist for the monthly weigh in and BP check so 🤞

I get cross at all these stories aiming to cause alarm. WLIs themselves do not cause muscle loss, hair loss etc. etc. Any significant weight loss will do this due the decrease in nutrients and calories being ingested. The sensible route is to make sure you eat plenty of protein and follow a suitable exercise routine. The benefits of being a healthy weight far outweigh any risks of using WLIs. They are not a magic bullet and require users to modify their eating habits. The poster upthread who said her friends use WLIs so they can gorge on takeaways and booze will find that said friends are wasting their money as they won’t lose weight without reducing their calorie intake. WLIs aren’t the easy option. They still require effort from the user.

I remember years ago the sarcasm " it's my hormones" engendered as if it was a poor & pitiful excuse for lack of willpower.

But more and more absolutely up to the minute research is coming out to show that it is exactly the complex interactions of hormones within our bodies that drive obesity and there is no one size fits all cure.

It's not as simple as calories in and calories out and people who struggle with weight gain should not be vilified or beat themselves up for lack of self control, it goes much deeper than that.

Some people have perfectly functioning endocrine systems where leptin - the satiety hormone - kicks in easily and weight gain isn't an issue but if yours is a bit wonky there's trouble. And that's before all the other hormones - insulin, gremlin, cortisol, oestrogen etc have their say.

Hopefully, science will continue to advance and get to the individual root cause and hence a roadmap towards a cure of the imbalances.

Nannee49 Wed 24-Jun-26 19:46:46

It is indeed a gremlin in the works, I actually typed grehlin!!

charley68 Wed 24-Jun-26 21:45:19

The best of luck to everyone who is taking charge of their body. It is very difficult to lose weight post menopause, especially when other health problems rear their heads. I know a few people who have been on it, and it has worked well for them.

I find it very difficult to believe that people binge eat on the injections. The injections interrupt your thinking about food, along with the desire to eat, and even if they do binge eat - they can feel very ill - belly pain, diarrhoea etc. So I really doubt that the binge eat often.

I hope you all feel more positive about your weight loss, and stop feeling bad about having help to do so.

Hello all. I took my 3rd dose of 2.5mg Mounjaro yesterday. I’m pleased with the results - I have lost 6lb so far, and it has transformed my eating. After a lifetime of being ruled by ‘food thoughts’ and cravings, it’s quite freeing. It’s helped me to eat like a thin person - I can stop eating when I’ve had enough. I find that the effects wear off a bit towards the end of the week so I delayed my injection yesterday until late evening so I could enjoy going out for a meal. I do have some side effects - constipation, and stomach aches/cramps. I had a packet of crisps one evening and was up at night with awful stomach ache.
I agree though that it’s not an easy fix. It’s still the long game, and brings problems of its own. It’s also very expensive, and I won’t be able to afford it for long.
I started off with MedExpress as I got 35% off the first order with a Bluelight card. My friend has tried many different ones, but says Bolt is the cheapest and best, so my husband has gone with that. Many people I know shop around every month to get the best deal. I’m looking forward to reading about all your stories. Good luck everyone!
