Chest infection lingering on

Thank you it's so rare I get anything really.but if I do it's Christmas. Sure there will be lots of bugs around just now though

Any infection can take a while to be eliminated from your body. I would focus on building up your immune system, eating well, avoiding alcohol, getting out in the fresh air and getting exercise, taking Vit D, sleeping well and hopefully you will soon be on the mend and not needing anti-biotics.

The cough is your body's natural defence mechanism against pathogens and isn't necessarily a bad thing in itself. Annoying, yes but also necessary for protection and healing.

Are you asthmatic?
I am and prone to chest infections .
A simple cold will turn into bronchitis ,pneumonia or pleurisy if I'm not careful .
Over the last two years I've had one infection after the other.
I think that I had six or seven attacks in one year .
Christmas was horrendous.
Now a couple of weeks on I'm still sick .
I just had an asthma attack in the supermarket.
I'm struggling to get home.
If my phlegm is yellow ,green or brown - I'll ask for antibiotics with steroids .

If I were you I'd ask for an appointment.
I shall as this is drifting into week three.

Thanks everyone .I think is just about one
Dr didn't want to ive me anymore antibiotics .but I had some left from a sinus infection well in dat so taking them and it has cleared up within days of takin them.theh are for. Chest infections as well as other things which is good as I have also now got cystitis
I was given Amoxicillin first which seemed to do nothing
