Chiropractor

No experience with a Chiropractor always go to an Osteopath. If you are not satisficed with the treatment then I would highly recommend seeking out a good Osteopath as an alternative. Then decide which type of Practitioner is right for you.

Yes I have for my lower back, I saw her three times about 18 months ago and still do the exercises now.

Plenty of exercises and stretches for neck stiffness/pain online. Probably not your chosen path but doing them worked for me. So much professional help online now in the form of articles and videos.

Sports injury advice is very good.

DD1 has lots of back problems, she finds her chiropractor invaluable. She’s been going several times a week recently and is now booked in for another MRI at his suggestion.

My preference is for an osteopath cum cranial osteopath. I've seen both before now - but admits it's made me wary of chiropractors after having read that that "tug at your neck" type thing they sometimes do can harm people.

So that's what I want basically - that type of osteopath and for them to be a man (there speaks a woman who moved to a town where she thought "Only two osteopaths - oh well that'll be enough" and didn't stop to think they are both women). It matters - as, despite it being a career (and not job) they're both part-time!!!! So I'm currently alternating between a different type of chiropractor (ie uses a machine to do the work for him so to say) and he's a man and a male osteopath an expensive taxi journey away. Yep...refusing to use a woman - just in case she does the part-time thing.

I went to a chiropractor for a while, so it DH. They were brilliant. Helped level out my hips and straighten my spine. I expect there are bad ones out there. I would go to an osteopath as an alternative if there was one around.

Have you considered a physiotherapist?

I went once years ago after I hurt my back and was unable to work.

I walked in bent over and walked out standing straight and pain free.

It was the best £50 I ever spent.

She recommended a series of treatments but I never went back and my back has been fine ever since...

So it's a recommendation from me!

I used a chiropractor for several years to help with sciatica, back pain, neck pain etc.
The joy of being able to look over your shoulder when you come out!

I used one back in the day.
We both decided, after 3 sessions, that it wasnt working for me.
May hve been a bit of a difference[though I hope not] that I knew the people who owned the practice.
But they have had a good reputation in the town for decades.

Worked miracles for me after a difficult birth of a 10 lb baby. Real problems with hips and pelvis and the results were great.

I haven’t seen a chiropractor but I have seen a cranial osteopath. Fixes any problems in one visit.

I've had NHS physiotherapy and it made things much worse.

I prefer a cranial osteopath - the treatment is gentle but wonderfully effective and has worked miracles for me. Expensive but well worth it.

I have a couple of long term back conditions so have consulted various therapists - physio, osteo and chiropractic. When I get an acute problem such as a lock up the chiropractor is usually able to release me. Exercises from a physio decades ago are still my regular go to ( well he told me I’d be in a wheel chair by age 40 if I didn’t!). Osteopathic treatment seems gentler - although the osteopath I attended back then used more machines and traction to relieve trapped nerves which may be different now. I’ve been quite disappointed with nhs physios - the local ones anyway. My present chiropractor uses a mix of all three practices which seems to work for me. Necks however are a tricky one!
