Transnasal endoscopy Anyone

Trans nasal sounds a better option to me as I have a very high gag reflex. but I know nothing about it so hope someone comes along who does. Good luck.🤞

Same here- I once had an endoscopy with no sedative, hope I never have one again. Up the nose sounds like a better option to me. Hope it has a good outcome for you.

I had a transnasel endoscopy in January with no sedation. It wasn’t too bad as the only discomfort was at a certain point as the tube travelled down but after that it was okay and only lasted a short while. Six weeks later I had to return to have things checked but then I had one that entered through the mouth. For this I had a light sedative. I found this to be over in no time and easier than the transnasel.

I think it depends what they are checking for.
You can do more procedures with an "upper endoscopy",

I don't know if they can do biopsies through the nose and apparently there are other therapeutic interventions (like stretching narrowed areas) that aren't done through the nose.

Ask your doctor/consultant seems to be good advice.

Oh I had one some years ago I couldn’t do it I had to stop him Maybe it was the competence of the doctor but it was very painful i felt as if he was poking hard into my bone and brain I opted for an endoscopy with light sedation and that was ok but I wouldn’t have it without sedation
I don’t think I have a low pain threashold but that was horrid

My son had a transnasal endoscopy and the way he described it it didn’t sound at all pleasant.

I’ve had two upper endoscopies without sedation and while they were uncomfortable, they weren’t painful and were over quickly.

I've often wondered at the procedure I went through. The specialist said 'sorry about the taste' as he squirted some liquid up my nose and almost instantly with a flick of his wrist put what I would have thought was an impossibly large 'light bulb' to follow it. Never felt a thing. The man was a genius and I hope you encounter someone equally able. Good luck.

The most horrific experience I ever had to endure- practically hammered it up my nose & because the hole at the top of my nasal passage is narrow it hurt like hell. I was given a canula for some meds to chill me out but they had to test my vocals first, that hurt. Took three nurses to hold me down, I had tears rolling down my face.
I had a bronoscopy? Where they go into your lung- if it’s your stomach it might be ok.. but I will go for it down my throat all day long.

Always op for some type of relief, takes a tiny while to recover but well worth it
