I expect it might be thrush in your mouth, due to the antibiotics, but I'm so glad you're getting a check up from the gp.
Is the xray to see if your lungs are clear?

Let's hope Vince comes up trumps with the dratted heating, but deal with that when and if it becomes an issue.

If your insurance covers it, you might get a stay in a hotel for a week or two. Then you can be waited on a bit.

Evening - I am feeling a bit better now in myself. Vince plumber back today about 11.20am - 1.15pm. Did lots of checks and added some sort of substance to the system which will find any leaks and close them. He wanted me to leave the heating on until I went to bed as the substance needed to be hot (as thick stuff) to circulate well. Then tomorrow my husband is taking me for an xray and Vince said if the pressure has dropped, husband can top it up. About 4.30pm I felt a radiator and it wasnt hot, had a look at boiler which was off and water pressure absolutely zero! Vince did say it could be pipework leaking under the house so that would be carpets up, floorboards up etc etc. I cant believe this is happening and that the problem has not been resolved. Vince is doing his best and it is a company who I believe care. So maybe Vince can come tomorrow, I dont know. Doc phoned me today to see how I was. I said I had lost weight and still got a bit of a cough and my tongue is horribly coated so I am to go to docs Mon and get blood test and check up on my tongue. I told doc about the heating and she said was there anyone I could stay with and I mentioned my husband. But been thinking that wouldnt be ideal. I have my gas fire, my heated throw and electric blanket so I think I am going to stay put for now. Years ago people didnt have central heating so I am hoping I will be okay.

Ive just read about your heating situation, that's dreadful. Ring Age Concern or 111 you can't I improve under such conditions, that's really worrying. What on earth are the doctors for.

I let the company know who are very reputable that the water pressure had gone right down again and Vince the plumber rang me back and he will be here around 11am tomorrow. When he did visit, he said we arent out of the woods yet as he wasnt 100% and has to elimate etc etc. We did check all the rads to see if any were leaking. Vince says it may be a leak in the pipework and he can apply something that will clear up those. He also mentioned he might need a new part and is ordering it. This company actually installed my boiler and I have every confidence in them. Considering I rang them today about 9am, for Vince to arrive by 10.30am was so much appreciated. Whereas 2 local plumbers I contacted didnt want to know. Thanks everyone for your support x

I just asked DH what to do if boiler pressure drops and he said there are a number of issues which could cause it.
Most are fairly simple to rectify including increasing the water level by opening the cock, bleeding the radiators.

Unless it's a major problem, a plumber should be able to sort this quite easily.

We had a drip from a radiator, which caused exactly that. Could you check and see if any are leaking and switch it off.
It is actually really easy to top up a boiler, until you can get the plumber back.

YouTube shows how to increase boiler pressure, I’ve done it before which means anyone can because I’m usually rubbish at anything like that!

I think I saw something from British gas the other day.
I'll go and look.

Any decent plumber should be able to sort that out.
If they couldn't sort it out the first time they should come back without further charge.

I'm sure that has happened to ours before now, I'll ask DH.

Just an onlooker who has accompanied others to appts etc.
Snow is forecast.
It's getting really cold.
I do not think you should be alone in a house with unreliable heating.
Do you have any spare cash.
Could you book yourself into a nearby hotel for a week.
Ring around a few. Dinner bed n breakfast. Take biscuits for lunch. Make tea or coffee in room. Negotiate a price.
This is their low season.
Say you need a rest.
I wouldn't mention pneumonia.

I've sometimes found the last two or three antibiotics have done the trick.

Perhaps try and find a company that can guarantee to fix your heating, if you can afford it.

Hope you feel better soon but, if you don't, then tell that GP you need to see her and you may need more antibiotics.

I know our friend needed three courses and after that and a lot of rest was well enough to go out for a meal before Christmas (by which time I had the virus and couldn't go!).

I did ring the docs this morning and explained to the receptionist that I had only a few antibiotics left. She said she would ring me back and did to tell me doc thinks I have had enough antibiotics to sort out the germs. Plumber came to my heating this morning and I think I was lucky to get the visit. He did what he could and said we arent out of the woods yet. This afternoon the water pressure has completely dropped to zero again and the heating wont come on so back to the drawing board. As another non doctor, my opinion is that Jane Judge is correct.

I think, and I'm not a Dr, that you need to carry on with the antibiotics until you have had your x - ray results. Could you ring the Dr please? they will be in today and tomorrow.

Also, can you sleep downstairs with the fire on for now until your heating is fixed?

I’ve had pneumonia twice. It is very debilitating and can be frightening. Best advice I had was to rest as much as possible (as well as taking the meds and keeping up
fluids etc.) Dr threatened hospital if no improvement but fortunately I turned a corner in time. It took quite a while to recover completely. Thinking of you as you persevere with your treatment, and wishing you a speedy return to health💐
