Doodle Myself and DH go everywhere together too. I can only magine how hard it is for you. It's a hundred and one little things I'd miss too . I can't think I'd ever be going to the same coffee shops . Just can't think about it really. I wish so much you didn't have to go through all this. You must cherish your friends so much and I'm so glad you have them- though I know it's not the same. It's like Wyllow says - 'impossible to avoid all triggers as you've been together so long'. I hope you've had more brighter moments today than sad.

Had coffee and toast out then back to finishing doll for my other sis . It has been waiting armless and looking sad for over a week. Now parcelled up in shoe box. Was in bathroom when carpet arrived and DH carried up underlay to bedroom by himself- grrr. He's been coughing for 3dys and nights - not sure why.

Hoping everyone is ok today. Live to all and any not mentioned.

Scaredycat What a surprise that your DH didn't need the cataract assessment. I bet he was well pleased. It's amazing what we can pick up going around these big stores isn't it. The middle aisles can have so many bargains in Aldi (always pulling DH away from car stuff) Shame about the cat not eating your food. Would it eat tinned Tuna? Fluffball likes that .
LucyD It sounds quite challenging minding a toddler and baby though I'm sure it will be rewarding to. Good to know the baby likes a nap. I remember my DGS liking a sleep at that age and creeping around hoping not to disturb him- nothing did.
Wyllow It was so good to hear you've been out to the park a second day running by yourself. I'm sure it will help and bring back that confidence in yourself. Hope your tum has been OK today. Has the gardener been yet? I see things coming to life right now with the extra sunshine we're having. I do hope you will feel a tiny spark of spirit it in that inner Wyllow soon. You are putting in so much effort.

LucyD You've obviously got very long hair! It was a long day with the children, and I woudn't be able to do it on my own. My husban carries does the driving (I can drive but don't like it) and the eldest GD (13) has been a huge help with the little one this week. How old are the children you'll be looking after? Peppa Pig is a hit with ours (20 months old) for a short time, allowing us to have a cup of tea).

SweetpeaSue Hope you slept well. How are you both?

Doodle We chose a beige/speckled carpet and a king-sized bed with a hybrid mattress (springs and memory foam). How are your eyes with the hay fever? Are you going somewhere today? It's meant to be really warm later.

Wyllow3 You're doing well. 40 minutes is more than I can do and it means you're getting some fresh air. I hope it helps a bit with your sleep.

It's my birthday today (66) and I'm taking 3 dozen cupcakes to the day centre. I'll leave early at 2ish as Son1 and family will be here at 3 then Son2 and his family at 6. Hope ALL BDers manage to have a decent day x

HVDY I dont need reading specs - being short-sighted all my life it now “righted” itself to read and computing. Thats a full day alright but what a simply lovely time you give your grandchildren, they are very lucky.

Allsorts many sympathies for your bad patch. Glad you came in. You’re not moaning…. just sharing how it is. Sorry you have hay fever so badly just makes things worse.

I’m glad your DH has been spared an operation for longer, Scaredycat - glad you got a walk in. I cant atm sort of include my family as part of me, just how things are.

It’s almost impossible to avoid triggers Doodle as you were together for so long and shared things great and small x. Aw, dont be embarrassed at the hairdresser I’m sure they understand.

I went to the park again. Tough to get out, wash, dress… My walk is probably only 40 mins - it just helps a bit, I realise. Its not a place connected with Ex but …..best not to think too much…

I hope people have the best nights possible I know all dont have good nights. I just go to bd very late so’s not to wake up with too long a day.

Sweetpeasue sorry you’re not feeling well, You have so many worries at the moment it’s not surprising it’s affecting your health. Thank you for your kind thoughts. I’m doing ok. Each day tends to have good and bad bits but I’ve made a lot of friends and they have been very good to me.

Yes Dh and I always went everywhere together. As you say, that’s why most places hold memories for me. Which in many ways is nice except sometimes the memories bring home so much what we’re missing.

Allsorts I’m sorry about the hayfever. I suffer to but mine is getting better, do you take antihistamines and nose sprays. I find they help after a while. Like you my dh is always with me. In my heart and mind.
Scaredycat you’ve had a busy day yesterday. It’s had to get cataracts treated. You usually have to wait till they feel it’s bad enough. DH was lucky to get both his done and it made a big difference. Hope your Dh gets to have his done soon.

Lucyd thank you for the hug. Yes I am really tired. I know it’s because I get up early to go out and about and I wake up a couple of times a night so I’m not getting so much sleep but at the moment I need to be busy. I was embarrassed at the hairdresser though.
Your hair must be quite long now. I used to cut my own when it was long. I just parted it at the back and cut chunks off both sides. It didn’t matter if it wasn’t even as I had wavy hair so it didn’t show,
Do you work every day? Is it long hours.

Evening everyone. Just a short post as I don't get home till nearly 6pm as I work till later now.
Allsorts - hay-fever can be awful. The only respite I used to get was a steamy shower and smothering my nose in Vick or Vaseline! And not drying my bedding or clothes outdoors even though it is so tempting on gloriously sunny days as they catch all the pollen. I don't think you can say other people's problems are worse than yours - if you are worried about something and it is getting you down then it is okay to ask for help. Everyone here understands.
Doodle - like you I like to stick to the same hairdresser. Unfortunately my lady has had an op on her hand and I haven't had mine cut for nearly a year (I have been hacking away at my fringe with the manicure scissors!) and am in desperate need of a good 6 inches being lobbed off the ends. You must have really needed a nap if you nodded off at the hairdressers - you are probably so tired trying to keep yourself busy and having a poor quality of sleep too. People will tell you to be kind to yourself but that it very hard when you want to are hurting so much. Sending you a big hug.
Wyllow3- glad you got out to the park. I think when life feels too much our instinct is to hide away ( my friend described me as having been a tortoise over the past few months as I refused to see anyone or go anywhere - this is true as I was very down ). It is taking that first step and getting out that is so hard. I hope it has given you the confidence to go again.
HVDY2- that's a long day. I wish I had your stamina. I am already getting a wee bit stressed about having my two little ones from before 9 till just after 3 as I have only had the toddler before! I have been assured the baby will have a sleep though. It will mean a change to our routine which may not go down too well with the toddler but if the baby has a nap then we can have time together.

Little Girl came at 7.30. After breakfast, we picked up GD1, went to a soft play place for 90 minutes, then picked up SGS and we all went for a pub lunch and a very nice park with a giant sandpit, had an ice cream, before the children all went home at 5.30. Full day x

Hi all
Yesterday was a busy day . I had a walk while DH at Gym then did some cooking and bit of housey things. After lunch we went for DH Cataract assessment and they said he didn’t need it yet! I had to drive as he’d had Drops in his eyes. While he was in hospital I went to Aldi and bought stuff I didn’t know we needed!! Little cat came but he didn’t like the food we gave him.😩

HVDY- you have a busy day today but fun as well I bet.lovely to have a willing helper with LG. It’s sad the 2 sisters live apart but hope they get on well despite everything.
Your bedroom will be lovely when it is finished - it,ll be worth the wait.
Hope your hip is not so painful today.
SweetPeaSue- Your DGS sounds a lovely,kind boy. You must so enjoy your times with him . His Mum has done a good job sounds like. I love him helping in the garden too- he must have had the best day and it did you good as well.

You have had to endure migraines for such a long time- hope your increased dose is helping you.

There are so many reminders of your Lovely DH - music is really evocative but even a visit to the hairdressers can hurt. My you must have been tired to fall asleep in the chair!!

Read all your posts although haven't posted for a while. Had a bad patch for a couple offweeks, almost in panic mode everything seemed too much, but I go to ground a bit, can’t inflict myself on anyone as they probably have worse problems, when out cant wait to get home. . This constant itching from hay fever makes me worse as can't potter outside. But enough moaning.
Doodle, its still very new for you, when you have had a good marriage its the sharing of everything we miss, look at that sunset or shall we do this or sitting in silence reading but they are there and we are together. After all this time he is still in my thoughts and I miss him.
Wylow, glad you got out to the park., Hope your gd gets the help she needs.

HVDY Granddaughter doesn’t have much proper physio input, probably due to cuts, But the family do quite a bit when they can and the school does. I just doubt it’s enough, we’ll see.

Bright an sunny here too. I hope the wardrobe all gets sorted asap. My specs are a sort of very thin dull silver, very discreet, which I like.

Well your day turned out to be really productive, didnt it? Great to get the carpet and beds sorted. I’m still putting the heating on in the evenings, its gets chilly.

I thought today - I have always got meaning for my life through another person and don't feel like a person without it. It gave me a reason to "be" it's scary. I have to distract not feel I have had just one short period in my life alone, and had a lot of MH support then.

Todays plus as well as the walk is that my left ear has started working again - unless its a one day wonder, the GP different drops in both ears worked just what the GP said.

Doodle Son1 sees his younger girl regularly, that's the main thing (overnight every Thursday and every other w/e and he'll see her from this w/e until Maundy Thursday as he's off work, so perhaps we'll see her then). Everywhere you go must remind you of your husband - I think you said you used to go everywhere together?

Wyllow3 Glad your specs are suitable. What colour frames have you had? I had green for my distance ones. How was your day today?

It turned out to be a productive day - DH and I went to a shop and chose a carpet for the bedroom, as well as a new bed, mattress, headboard - hopefully, they will all be installed 2 days after the wardrobes. Lunch at the pub and a few things from B&M. DH out with Son1 this evening, so I've put the heating on x

I just had a trim today. I’ve had the same haircut for years. I felt upset at the hairdresser because Dh always used to take me there then have a coffee and wait for me to bring me home. I miss him so much.

Sweetpeasue I do get very tired. In fact I fell asleep at the hairdressers today. I was so embarrassed. Apparently people often do fall asleep when having their hair dried.
Weather has been good here too. Went for a walk with my friend this morning and we stopped for coffee by the river which was nice.

LucyD So sorry about getting your name wrong yesterday in my post meant for yourself. Oh those migraines are a horrible thing, my mum used to have them sometimes but yours must be dreadful to need injections. It must have been hard having them at only 9yr old.
Malta sounds a great idea for you especially after hearing such good things about it from your own father and son. I'm sure it must feel like a big leap ,going on holiday, but go with your instinct - I think it'll be fine.
HVDY You put it well there- about DH and I playing to our own strengths. I think most couples end up doing that don't they. Though men these days are so much more domesticated in the home ( thinking of my sons and their working wives). You have a busy day tomorrow with Littlegirl but how lovely that your older DGD helps out. So glad you've not needed inhaler as much.
Doodle I hadn't realised you weren't sleeping through the night. You must be exhausted at the end of the day. I see what you mean about the phone background music and songs.It must be really hard to be forced to listen and it bringing up feelings - I'm so sorry for you having to do that. Hope you like your haircut today. I've still not been to a hairdresser but my DH cut mine today and I ended up cutting his! Not done that since Covid lockdowns but his hair was getting so long. Scaredycat Your eyesight sounds like my DHs. He started wearing glasses as a boy at school but it deteriorated a lot since then. My little DGS has had to start wearing them last month( his teacher noticed first he couldn't read words on the white board). He looks sweet in them( he's sweet without too!) though he's quite active and boisterous and I worry about them flying off. He fell off a circling seat at park yesterday and his glasses went flying over the glass. He wasn't hurt at all. DH hates the phaff of getting new ones too.
Wyllow Thankyou for saying I wasn't moaning. Difficult to be 'true' and not feeling like 'a pain' , I try , but good thing here is people are so kind.
I remember you saying that it was hoped your DGD would be able to walk a little after the op. I hope there's still that possibility there. It must be difficult to watch the hardship she has, yet I expect she takes it all very calmly . I do hope so anyway.

After a bit of a ropey start (stiffness getting up early and trying to get ready) had a lovely time with DGS. Took him to a forest walkway and he enjoyed the adventure playground which had lots of equipment for older kids. There are carved wooden animals throughout forest and he loved climbing the trees that were specially left for them. We saw a grey Heron ( first he'd ever seen) and DH had a full breakfast in the cafe there and DGS and I had bacon sandwiches then he had an ice- cream. Back home DGS even did a bit of weeding in the garden. He said he thought he'd need his 'equipment' ( his mum had bought him garden gloves and trowel the day before) LOL but found he could manage without.

Hoping everyone has had a day with some bright moments in it and sleeps peacefully. Love to all and thinking of those not in.x

Wyllow3 Does your GD have physiotherapy? (even YouTube exercises?) My diet has been quite hit and miss for a month. If I get low/bored, I snack on the wrong things.

It's a bright, sunny day here. Changed beds, got washing out. Not gone to aqua aerobics (friend wasn't going anyway). Not used my new inhaler since Sunday (and only then once that day). Finally got a date for wardrobe fitting - May 9th! Had I known what along procedure it was going to be, I wouldn't have bothered! It'll be good to get it all done. Hope ALL BDers manage to have a decent day. x

Another hello for Lucy and hoping for house completion as early as possible. A Shaker style sounds nice.~yes it is hard to do those things on your own. Your ideas for a holiday break are brilliant. I particularly understand the music thing - music is so evocative.

I also got 2 pairs of specs too. I’m bound to either mislay or even sit on a pair…….

That Covid jab is taking it out of you, Scardeycat, you did well to meet your friend for coffee. I hope the stray does well under your care, you can get some practice in for when you get your very own.

GD is still in a giant buggy. A wheelchair wouldnt be an option really atm as she cant see for using it herself, it depends how she does as she grows. HVDY the hope was when she got her legs straightened she would be able to walk in a supported frame but its not looking great for that as regards legs being able to weight bear.

Alas it’s a mini Specsavers so no ear hoovering there. I did get my usual ready meal treats. My new specs look nice. Yes, it was a bit better after getting out and being productive.

That sounds like a busy but really nice day, HVDY. I bet you were tired afterwards!. Naproxin sounds like a good idea. It’s great that DH does the cooking. How is the diet going?

I never feel you are moaning, Sweetpeasue you have a lot on your mind. It’s just good to see you in however things are. So good to read of your seeing your DGS and I hope tomorrow goes OK with him too.

SweetpeaSue Both of my hips have been painful when walking today. I might see if I can get some Naproxen from the GP or Physiotherapist. It sounds as though you and your husband play to your own strengths. My DH had to teach me to cook when we first set up home together. He does most of the cooking nowadays. Your GS sounds a charming little boy. Nice to spend time with grandchildren, although it's tiring, isn't it? We've got Little Girl and GD1 again all day on Wednesday.

LucyD It was me with the brother who died, and the Bohemian Rhapsody song (I always thought it hugely overrated anyway). The migraines you get sound severe. I don't get them very often at all now but had the first one when I was pregnant with Son2, and they used to last for days. Horrible. You have my sympathy. Yes, an especially long day with the little GD this Wednesday - 7ish until about 5.30. GD1 (almost 14) will be here so she'll help out.

Doodle You've got a busy day tomorrow then. Sadly, we don't see a lot of GD2 (she's 10), and she still lives with her mum (she chooses to as mum buys her a lot and takes her out, all to keep her there, I think. GD1 stays round there 1 night a week but has to sleep on the settee as there isn't a bed for her . She's pushed out a bit. Are you just having a trim tomorrow, or do you have anything else done?

HVDY no I haven’t slept all through the night since Dh died. I used to wake several times but not it’s only one or twice sometimes three times. I can us usually go back to sleep.

Scaredycat glad your arm is better. I met a friend for coffee today too. It’s nice to get out and about sometimes. What was really nice was she brought her new puppy with her and I got a cuddle. So tiny and so sweet.
No lent lunch is for us to send money to Christian aid. We have soup and bread and cheese for lunch and donate the money we would have spent on a Sunday roast to charity.

Lucyd how accurately you describe your fear of music. I am exactly the same. I don’t listen to music at all now and dread something being played in pubs or restaurants shops etc.
The other thing that gets me is sometimes the songs that play on the phone while you’re holding on. The people who do all these background songs don’t think of the people that might be listening to them.
Hope you do get to go to Malta and have a good time.

Sweetpeasue - that's lovely you got to spend time with your grandson and I hope you are managing to have a rest.
HvDY2- my son and dil got their glasses from Glasses 2 U and they were perfect and very cheap. Unfortunately my prescription is quite complicated and so I go to Specsavers. By the time the cost of the extra thin lenses (I am very, very short sighted with a complex prescription), varifocals, etc are added on they cost a few hundred pounds but I do get two pairs. My friend went to our local optician. She only got her varifocal lenses replaced (no ultra thin lenses or new frames) and was charged over £400! My two pair cost lass than that. You have Little Girl for quite a long day. I will only have my two wee ones from just before 9am till 3pm. I think my wee grand daughter will find it strange "sharing" me as it has always just been the two of us and we play lots of games, have stories, etc. I am hoping the baby still has his sleep in the afternoon so we still have time together. I take preventative medication for migraine (which has just been doubled) plus have injections for when I get a migraine. I have had the topirimate (preventative med) before and it worked really well for a couple of years then it stopped. Started it again but not so successful this time hence the dose has been increased. Have had them since I was about 9. Nowhere as severe as they used to be but more frequent so am hoping the increase in dose helps.
Wyllow - I hope you are feeling a wee bit better too and that your new glasses are a comfortable fit. That's the one thing I dislike about getting new glasses - they way they just feel different!

Doodle - I do feel I was brave going to watch the plays on my own which is a bit daft as people do things like that all the time. I just dread the thought of even going for a coffee on my own - I know there is nothing to worry about but I do! However I really want to go on holiday this year and as my friends are either tied to school holidays ( which don't work for me), don't fly, can't get time off work, etc I am resolved to go on my own. I have a notion to go to Malta. My son and dil went a year ago and a colleague went last year - all of them have described in such a wat that it sounds appealing. Also my lovely Dad talked fondly of his time there went he was in the Navy! A huge leap from going to an amateur theatre production to going abroad but ... Like you I have to keep busy to keep certain thoughts at bay. I can identify with what you wrote about your brother and Bohemian Rhopsody. I have never listened to a music channel on the radio since my DH died for fear of something being played that would remind me of him. I feel on edge if I am in the surgery waiting room or a supermarket and there is music playing. It is okay if I choose to listen but if a song is just randomly played I struggle.
Scaredycat - not sure what kitchen to go for but have spotted a Shaker style one I like. I had thought a green one but may go for ivory as the kitchen/ diner is semi open plan with the sitting room extension and ivory would make it easier to co ordinate things. Honestly it is a bit overwhelming. I am going to have a look a the build tomorrow as the room and twelve veluxes are on the main part and the internal walls are now up on that part so it will give me some idea of the size. Glad to hear your arm is less painful. Injections can be so painful for days afterwards. My friend said her shingles one was very nasty.

Wyllow Hope your tum is better now and you managed the shopping OK today. Its quite a lot to go to get your glasses too. Hoping your mood has lifted a little after the shop and at least you'll have your new glasses too.
HVDY Hope your painful hip is getting better. Yes, have been lucky that DH can do things though we've not done an awful lot to the house for a while. He will do things I hate like defrosting the freezer. He couldn't cook a meal though. I'm OK with that - we're quite trad/ old fashioned I suppose.

Doodle Hope you've had company today. I'm sure lots of people go to garden centres who don't do gardening- I always think they're the best places for lunch or cake and it's nice to browse around. We took my DGS to one today.
DH got nasty headache there but he's recovered more now.

Son's ex dropped off my DGS this morning. Took him to a garden centre where there was a big park. He seems so grown up. While waiting at table he got up to take his grandad and show him where the toilets were! Used to be the other way round. Lovely morning with him so extremely achy tired now. Having him tomorrow too- Son will be back home Wednesday.

Wyllow3 Glad your GD isn't so bad as to need a hoist etc. (my nephew's girl is 15, needs every single thing doing for her, and is PEG fed and hoisted). Does she/can she walk at all, with a frame of some type? I hope you managed to choose some new glasses. I got mine from Glasses 2 U but they aren't right so I need to send them back - why didn't I go to SpecSavers like you??

Little Girl was here at 8, then we fetched GD1 at 9, and went to a huge indoor play centre for a couple of hours. Pub lunch and then a country park (LG fell asleep in the pushchair for an hour), then a play park and back here for an ice cream before they both went to their prospective homes at 5. Hope ALL BDers have been ok x
