I can sympathise with you, three years ago I fell off my daughters doorstep and broke my ankle in 3 places spent a week in hospital having an operation to put plates and screws, I had to sleep downstairs on the sofa for 6 weeks.
After about a year of pain and nothing detected in follow up appointment I went privately to an ankle surgeon who following X-ray told me that the screws had come apart and the bones hadn’t healed and I needed an ankle fusion, went and had that ( this time I hired a stairlift so I could sleep in my bed) a year later I have been told that even though all the metal work is still in place the bones haven’t healed, my choice is having another operation or just suffer as I am, I can’t walk far and sometimes need to go in the wheelchair, I have a permanent limp, and still have pain in it who would have thought falling off a normal height doorstep could cause this amount of a hassle and I’m still in my mid 60s
