RSV vaccine

I believe it is one off does.
Did you inform your GP of your reaction, boheminan or report it to the Yellow Card site. By doing so, it helps the research into these vaccinations.
I have had to do this a number of times, as I am very sensitive to meds and vaccinations.
However, if and when I am offered it, I will be having it.

Having read the literature, as I always do before starting new treatment, I am satisfied that the RSV vaccine cannot cause RSV, because it is NOT a live vaccine.
I am happy to listen to anyone,who can prove that this is false information.

Never heard of this vaccine.but too old for it anyway at 81,due for flu vaccination on 3rd of October,also offered another COVID,but not sure as last time I was asked first if I had any heart problems,so a bit worried as to why I was asked that

A huge coincidence? I've not had a cold like this before and hopefully never again but I won't have the vaccine if it's offered again

RSV vaccine cannot cause RSV because it's not a live vaccine. The vaccine contains a protein from the RSV virus, not the whole virus.

Perhaps coincidental.

I too am 69 with multiple comorbidities, including COPD. I am also immunocompromised, so am hoping I will be offered the RSV vaccine.

I was offered the Shingles vaccine in the summer, due to my problems and am hoping the criteria will be similar.

I am 'only' 69 but have asthma, a history of respiratory conditions and had pneumonia this year but I have not been offered it. I asked my doctor if he could refer me for it and after 'careful consideration' he decided I would not qualify for it. Anyone else in this situation?

I missed the window the first time it was offered by GP practice. Will try not to miss again - there will be another session in the not too distant.

I saw the same article westendgirl and came to the same conclusion. We are having our flu and Covid jabs as normal but I'm not happy to be having three vaccines at once nor run the risk of GB side effects. I am 80 next month and have decided that if it isn't effective at that I am going to give it a miss. If I had COPD or any auto immune disease then I would.

Still trying to find a believable reason as to why people over 80 are not offered this vaccine.
There is a piece in the online Saga mag. which doesn't find any definite reason.The point is made that there is not the evidence to show how effective it would be,because over 80's are under represented in medical research . perhaps letters to M.P. might help.I cannot see how the thinking works .

I m very nearly 80 but have been offered it, I m not at all sure.

I m having flu and eighth(I think ) Covid in a couple of weeks but I ve never had any lung problems no CoPD or asthma I don’t smoke and never had any illnesses relating to lung health

My surgery told me I would be receiving an RSV invitation shortly and I shall certainly accept.

I emailed my GP and asked him why, at the age of 82 I could not have the RSV vaccine as I had been in hospital with double pneumonia two years before.

He told me (and I also checked online) that the cut off age was 79 years. I found this ridiculous, don't the 80 year olds and over deserve the same sort of protection as younger people or are we disposeable.

I had an e-mail yesterday. I will have it when it is my turn but the e-mail advised not to have the RSV at the same time as Covid/Flu injections.

i was part of the trial for the RSV and apparently was given it not a placebo, am hoping my sister will be offered it as she is asthmatic, has copd and part of her lung missing due to cancer

I had it on Saturday, had no side effects and didn't even have a tender arm. I was told that this may be a one-off vaccination.

I had the RSV jab last Thursday, no problems for 3 days then Sunday started an horrendous head cold with sore throat, ear ache, runny nose, and a few other bad cold symptoms. It seems no one else I know of has had this reaction, which doesn't exactly make me feel better! I await my GP to ring me to let me know how to handle this. In the meantime am feeling very sorry for myself and a wee bit scared

Has no one else on GN reacted to the jab in this way???

I will have whatever the GP wants me to have. The government would not be spending all this money on vaccinations if they didn't work. They have never let me down yet. I never get the 'flu, I never had Covid (so fingers crossed and touching wood) let's hope it continues,

What a sensible message, BigBopper - you are so right. It's refreshing to have someone so positive, although generally the thread does seem to be filled with people who intend to have this jab. We had ours today. I have always fought shy of any kind of vaccination until I caught what must have been a close realative of Covid about a year before it became famous, and was so ill that I leapt at the opportunity to have flu and Covid jabs after that awful time.

I shall have it if invited.

I had mine last week. No side effects. I felt worse after my last covid jab.
