Denture question. Do I or don't I.

One of my front teeth fell out after I hit it hard with my binoculars preceded by a baby son then a baby granddaughter throwing their heads back against my face over the years. I did get a 'plate' with a tooth on it but couldn't enjoy my food at all so pretty much don't bother with it unless there's a family photo opportunity..

I wear my bottom denture no problem , but it took more than one try to get used to it !

crazyH trying it once is not giving a new drnture much of a try.

Trisher, I agree with those who say, don't bother if the missing teeth were back ones. But gaps in the front aren't too pretty.
I've lost back teeth on the upper jaw and I do manage with a partial denture.
None of it's fun, is it? Not to mention the cost. Oh well....

Oops..... would not want a front gap.

I have a top denture and with a little fixitive it is excellent. My dentist did mention just in conversation that a lower denture is more difficult. However if it was lower front teeth I would be giving it a go if at all possible. I would want a front gap. Also with a gap, the remaining teeth will 'drift'.
Just to add, I went back to him 3 times to have my upper denture adjusted before I was happy with the comfort.

Trisher agree with rosie1959 - I have lost a couple of teeth from bottom -back. Had a partial denture at a cost of about £300 - used it once, didn’t get on with it at all - so, binned it. I am managing fine, absolutely fine. Don’t waste your money.

kittylester professional or not I was constantly being pressurised to have implants which I can’t afford and don’t want everytime I had a check up it was pointed out that my back missing teeth could have implants at such and such price once I refused I totally felt all interest in my teeth and mouth disappeared until the next check up

Depends where the missing teeth are if they are at the front I would have dentures but at the side or back I wouldn’t bother.
I have a top partial plate and never have got on with it and will leave it out whenever possible

Your dentists will be a professional person with a lot of training so it would seem sensible to take their advice.

Who is Peter? I presume you mean taking from Peter to pay Paul- ie go without something to pay for something else?
I can't give you any advice I'm afraid- some dentures work and some don't, but they should have some kind of guarantee surely?
Sometimes we have to risk these things- either way you'll be missing out and that's a shame. Is there no help on the NHS if funds are so tight?
