Dry eye anyone?

I found the plunger on the Hycosan bottle really difficult to use. I felt I was going to poke the nozzle in my eye.

I now use gel Viscotears which are a bit blobby and gloopy..
I like the spray Actimist by Optrex very much but doubt it is very good. The optician wasn't very impressed when I said I used them, but also said whatever you use regularly is better than none.
I am reading the replies with interest.

I used Hycosan for a long time, needing them 4 or 5 times daily. About £12 per bottle. I then tried Optrex drops at less than half the price and they are better. I only need these 2 or 3 times daily.

Yes, Hycosan Red for me too!

Hyoscan was suggested by my opthamologist, but they stopped helping, hence the prescription ones. Gel tears were useless for me.

I have Sjogren's syndrome, an autoimmune disease. I have precription eye drops, which were developed for dry eyes caused by Sjogren's.

My dry eye was very much symptomatic, l was later found to be vitamin D deficient and after supplements it cleared up. I did have many other symptoms too, none of which l realised were due to vitamin D deficiency.

I use moisturising eye drops twice a day

I get a very good sort of artificial tears from NHS, Use them a lot esp last thing at night. Oddly ,during s recent hospital stay did not need them at all.

I was told to use eye drops every day. I find it helps, particularly last thing at night.
