Foot Problems

Sorry to hear about your foot pain. To be honest I’m particularly interested in the pain associated with brain injury. I had a brain haemorrhage 22 years ago and subsequently developed post stroke pain syndrome in one foot. It’s non stop severe pain that makes it impossible to stand more than a minute so I use a wheelchair and mobility scooter. I’ve been to many neurologists and pain specialists but no relief. I’m just wondering if you found anything helpful? Take care

I agree with tictacnana - old untreated club foot caught up with me at 67 . I use a stick a lot and very good walking boots nearly always and cosy fit cotton slipper sandals indoors . I keep walking even if pain and do a bit of line dancing and tai chi too . Don’t give up if you can help it ladies as exercising helps to strengthen the area and your general health . X

Fit Flop and Crocs shoes really helped plantar fasciitis. I now wear Fitflops all the time, buying them when there’s a sale on.

Due to polio’ and surgeries to the tendons in my leg and feet , I have drop foot. I’ve also had the bones of my big toe replaced. I find Sketchers trainers and shoes a great help and very comfortable so that I can walk more easily despite foot, leg and back problems. Use or lose it is a good mantra.

Regarding acupuncture, who do you go to? Many years ago I had a course of 6 treatments with a Chinese practitioner for a back problem and it was successful, however his premises has long since gone. I think I need some treatment for my excruciatingly painful feet, but don't know where to go. Suggestions gratefully received!

Where do you live?

One steroid injection cured my plantar fasciitis….given at surgery by doctor who diagnosed it ….dont you miss diagnostic doctors!?

I had plantar fasciitis. for two years and then joined Silver Swans ballet classes for over 65s and very quickly the condition was cured. I think it must have been the unusual foot exercises that fixed things.

HillyB I can remember a friend having bunion surgery and I must say it did take a long time to recover but she said it was worth it.

Am now in week 11 following surgery on my foot for a bunion....turned out that I also had fully dislocated big toe, and damage to next two toes so op was more involved than I expected. It is slow recovery but worth it....yet bunion surgery is often viewed as a fairly minor procedure, friends asking me after a week if I'm okay now. Recovery can take between 3 to 12 months and you definitely need lots of help for the first 6 weeks.

Just one session of acupuncture cured my plantar fasciitis.

Thanks blossoming. I tried once to explain some foot exercises that I used to do when I had plantar fasciitis but they didn’t make much sense.
