Dreadful toothache

Soak cotton wool with clove oil and pack into tooth.

Antibiotics are doing their trick plus max dose of paracetamol.
Also using mouthwash.
Just back from having large filling so hopefully that’s an end to it.

Toothache and earache are awful. I hope the antibiotics start working soon to get rid of the infection. I lost a front tooth filling last night and have a private dental appt this afternoon. There are no national health service dentists where i live - ive been on the nhs waiting list for years. I pay £30 a month to denplan and over the last year had a bridge which the dentist said without denplan would have cost over £600 so im quids in already! I have rubbish teeth.

I had an abscess recently and found that once the antibiotics kicked in the pain significantly diminished. I hope that's the same for you

I would certainly seek out at the least a pharmacist to see how you can max out pain relief in the short term. If you are not able to take ibuprofen then I’m sure you will be advised on something even if it’s how best to take your paracetamol.

If you can afford to do so, I’d ask if your dentist can refer you to a private specialist dental surgeon. I had a twisted root on one which was causing me lots of pain, and my dentist said she wouldn’t be able to guarantee she could remove the whole root, so I opted to do that, it cost me £150, and was done within a week, which was money very well spent. I’m still an NHS patient, it was done as a one off private treatment.

Be careful with ibuprofen and codeine, check with your pharmacist/gp since it might be unsafe for you.

Ouch. I can't take ibuprofen either..Can you take codeine? I find that Solpadeine soluble works best with toothache. Paracetamol alone doesn't do it for me.

I can’t take Ibuprofen as I have a hiatus hernia but thanks.

I sympathise as it's such an invasive ache! Be careful taking ibuprofen if you are on any other medications. I can't take it at all now. I hope it settles down quickly

you can take two paracetamols then in 2 hours take two ibuprofen then another 2 hours paracetamols ect till pain eases. google it

Take Ibrufen as well if you can that way you can spread the pain killing affect out. I also found a salt mouthwash very beneficial as well as mouthwash containing alcohol.
I sympathise will you I have had a tooth infection in the last week.
