Foot arthritis

Do you have swelling there? If so, it might be bursitis which I had on the ball of my foot, diagnosed at the hospital with a scan. Very painful.

As an experiment while waiting to see my doctor for further advice, I rubbed Rhus Tox & Ruta Cream into it every night while watching TV and by the time my appointment arrived, the pain was much less and the swelling almost disappeared, so my doctor told me to keep on doing what I was doing. It totally disappeared after another couple of weeks of the cream.

I buy Helios brand which I've found is the best, and have been using it on osteoarthritis in hands, hips, ankle, etc. since 2014. It keeps the pain at bay.

Thanks yes very painful walking I will order some from Amazon anything worth a try. I do a lot of walking and the pain is getting me down. No it’s not swollen. Another nurse said it’s not arthritis it’s planta fasciitis so I’m having to wait until sept for more detailed scan. Thank u for advice I’m ordering some today

It could also be morton's neuroma Chloejo, a scan will confirm it.

I think plantar fasciitis is usually felt in the bottom of your heel rather than the ball of your foot. I have had PF and it is extremely painful.

Chloejo - have you been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis ? I don’t know how old you are and I certainly don’t want to scare you. My friend’s RA started with a pain in the ball of her foot.
Have you had a blood test for Rh factor? Mind you, her RA is well managed and she lives a normal life.
Partially freeze a can of coke and when it’s cold, place it under your feet and roll it backwards and forwards..

Very painful if you have one of these. I did scan, injections then eventually surgery.

I’m a fellow sufferer and you have my sympathy. I’ve found that wearing trainers most of the time helps. I get mine from Widerfit shoes who make ones deep enough for me to be able to put an insole and an orthotic in so my feet are well padded. I’ve also found that a firm massage with Body Shop mint foot lotion is pleasant and seems to improve matters especially if I do it before going to bed. Good luck, I hope you find some relief.

You have my sympathy, just had 3 toes fused, 2 metatarsal bones shortened and a plantar plate repair due to Arthritis, it’s a bummer!

I have had surgery for a morton's neuroma - it feels like you have a pebble in your shoe (it's a swelling in the pad of your foot and quite uncomfortable), I would say it doesn't feel anything like arthritis (which I have in my big toe joint).

Another sympathizer here who needed surgery on both feet 're arthritis. The surgery has worked well for me and if you need it I hope it will help you too. Until then it's painkillers and whatever makes you comfortable. Best wishes it's a miserable pain to have.
