Question for those who have had or about to have the vaccine.

We were rungon the Thursday afternoon of last week (on our landline) and offered an appointment for the following afternoon.

Woodmouse is there any reason why you shouldn't have a landline phone with an anwerphone.

When we first moved to our current home until recently our mobile phone service was chancy at best. We just bought a landline with an answerphone and that made life much easier.

Text this morning -for my appointment on Sunday morning.

Mother, aged 89, had her first jab three weeks ago. She was due the second this week, but it was cancelled. No clue when she will get the second now but at least I feel she is a little more safe than she was before.

I had a text first thing asking me to contact the surgery. When I phoned I was offered a choice of dates , times and venue.

Got my appointment today for next friday,had a choice of times,chose 2pm as i have to rely on my daughter,and check it was ok for her

I was sent a letter (arrived seven days after date on it), this letter gave me choice of either booking via internet or by phone. Used internet and it was easy and quick, but only gave me places a long way from where I lived. I did book -not wishing to miss the opportunity. First dates were nine days time. 25 miles away, I asked my daughter if she could take that afternoon of work to accompany me.

Following day I received a message on my smart phone from my GP surgery informing me that I could now book for first jab locally - and first appointment was just two days away. So went with that.

Got a text inviting me to a website where I could choose my own date and time. The centre was manned by wonderful , cheerful, polite volunteers and it worked like clockwork.

Phone call 20 Jan, followed by text, appt date 30 Jan.

My husband got a phone call but I got a text and made an appointment for the following day.

I'm in Devon. My surgery phoned me one afternoon to tell me about my appointment and then I received a letter of confirmation in the post the next morning. I had 5 days notice of the jab appointment.

My daughter found the local hospital email especially for the purpose of booking 80 +. I gave them date of birth, national health number, name and address. I am 79 but put my details on also. Got a reply with both our appointments at the same time.
Neighbours have rung the hospitals. Also Guy’s hospital was making appointments for over 70s who rang. St Thomas’ was giving the Oxford one for over seventies. Again they rang. Got a text for my dh to attend from some associate of our GP. By then he had an appointment.

I had a phone call last week asking if I could make it to a central vaccine centre straight away as they had some left. This was about 6.30pm. Of course went, very surprised. Lots of staff from nearby supermarket were there waiting too

Forgot to say, I was on the shielding list.

My husband had his yesterday administered by medics from the army. Being ever the joker he sent this to a friend of ours

My vaccination was terrible, run by the army. First of all the Sergeant Major shouted at me, then made me go round the hall saluting everyone, worst of all said I was unfit and sent me on maneuvers into the woods for 2 hours!!!

Very surprised to get a phone call from doctors surgery on 11th December asking if we would like the vaccinations. They were starting them at the local medical centre on 15th December, offered appointment for 16th which we accepted. Went back for our second on 6th January. When we said to the doctor we were surprised to get the second at 3 weeks later she said that was the correct time to have it. This is Bury St Edmunds

Wow. Great to read of so many of you being vaccinated. I suspect I'll be in for a long wait. I'm in Group 5.
Are you experiencing any side effects at all? I never have any problem with the flu vac so don't anticipate any with this one.

It's really good to hear how many have had vaccine. I have had no side effects just sore arm

had mine last Tuesday, no side effects at all.. I got a phone call on my landline asking if I could come on the Tuesday 8.45am .It was only a short walk away from home so pleased.

Received an invitation last Monday to receive the vaccine, which I booked with some difficulty online, then yesterday afternoon received a text from my surgery offering me the vaccination at a much nearer venue, which I booked. Now trying to cancel the previous appointment.
A neighbour had the vaccine yesterday afternoon; no side effects so far.

Glad to hear such positive news!

I was notified that by text that I was due. Then I had to go online to book. It is in a local town hall which is 30 minutes bus ride away. I was really pleased . I am 72 but my 74 years DH has not heard.

We have both had ours this last week, notified by GP on our landline phone.Sore arms for a day or so and a feeling of tiredness, but that’s all.
Very well organised at a local small centre, and you have to sit and wait for 15mins afterwards to be sure you are fine.
