travelsafar, what a shock for you, especially as he already has COPD.
However, he is in the best place at the moment. You need to look after yourself now. Do you have family who can support you with shopping etc, as you are going to be stuck at home?

Just had it confirmed poor hubby has covid. I have been told to order a testing kit, which i have done and to isolate. It is horrid not being able to see him but thank god for mobile phones so i can send him reasurring texts and get two 'xx' in reply as i dont think he has the strength to do anything else.

Sorry to hear about that travelsafar. They will try and stabilise the irregularity and with oxygen therapy too providing other tests are okay, you'll have him home. I send you my best wishes in the hope he'll be returned to you soon

It's just over a year since I was hospitalised with an irregular heartbeat as I have A/F, though oxygen levels remain normal at 98% so lung output is normal with no COPD or anything. I'm a bit of a mystery, but always have to be " blue-lighted " on admission.

Sorry about that travelsafar You should let him stay until he is well enough to come home. Last year I had an appointment with the doctor (I have Bronchiectasis) who told me I had to go straight to hospital. I actually thought I'd be back later that day, but I was in ICU on Oxygen for about 2 days then an ordinary ward for 3 days. I think the only reason I was let out is because I kept telling them I was fine - and I was!!

thank you for all good wishes and messages of support. Just spoke to nurse and she said they have done blood and covid tests and now waiting to have chest xray done. Also the medical team are going to assess him so if i ring back in a while i should fine out if he is staying in or coming home. He is so scared and of course i cant be with him or even visit. But i do know he is in he best place.

Sorry to hear your husband is ill in hospital travelsafar. He’ll have a full assessment now and hopefully they will soon have his condition stabilised.

In the meantime, try to rest yourself while you wait for his return home. You must be very tired after coping with events of recent days ?

I'm sorry your DH is in hospital. I hope he is able to come home to you quickly.

My husband's story was similar to that of your's and pheonix.
He was in for just over a week, but he also had pneumonia.
His treatment in hospital was excellent.

travelsafar, I was sent to hospital by my GP with exactly the same symptoms (also have COPD) on Monday 14th. Lots of oxygen, rest and tests, and allowed home on Thursday 17th.

I hope he will be home soon. I have lung problems so understand his problems. It sounds as though you have a good GP. Our surgery is not manning the phones.

So sorry to hear this. You have done all you can and he is in the right place for now. After the stress and worry of the last couple of days do try and just take a moment or two for yourself so that you will feel refreshed and ready to continue caring for him when he comes home. You need to be fit and well too!
Here’s hoping they ‘get him sorted’ quickly and you will be welcoming him home soon.

So sorry travelsafar but under the circumstances he is in the best place to stabilise him. Seems like you have an excellent GP and NHS 111 did absolutely the right move in sending an ambulance too.
Rest assured, they won't keep him in hospital any longer than they need to.

Ah what a shame ! Hopefully the hospital will treat him quickly and he will be home with you later. They won’t keep him long unless absolutely necessary. ?

I am sorry to read this , but he will get more treatment in Hospital than at home , just hang in there and hope they get to the root of the problem and find the correct medication ..
I won’t say don’t worry , as I am sure you can’t help that , but do try to rest and reassure yourself he is in the best place at the minute
