Will be happy if it gets to higher in the protective percentage stakes but yes ill be having it- in fact i wish they would hurry up and make all vacs compulsory! And i dont see why this one certainly shouldnt be when the virus is so deadly!

So if you have already been vaccinated with one of the several trial vaccines around, does that mean you can or can't have the Oxford vaccine?

I have no hesitation in getting the vaccine as soon as it is offered. I am in my early 70’s,lost my husband to Cancer in late 2019, and feel as if my life has been permanently on hold since then. I want to be able to travel freely again , meet friends, go swimming, just enjoy life. Can’t understand why anyone would want to cower indoors when they are being given the opportunity to live again.

I will take whatever they offer me very gratefully. I am fed up of not seeing my dd or dgc. I am fed up about not being able to go on holiday. I just want to start living my life in full again. The vaccine will enable that. Also it would worry my DC if I did not have it.

I’m shortly to start a job in a care home so I think I may be one of the first phase. Bring it on!

Yes without a doubt I will be having the Vaccine and I hate needles but this is vital.

Absolutely! I would love the Oxford jab, but will take what I’m given.

By not having it youre not only putting yourself at risk, but still risking others- the scientists still dont know how long it will last anyway,as its not been around for long- so you could still pass it on to someone who'se jab is wearing off in a few months time!

@Trusher my daughter has been recruited, was a first aider in her previous job, but has to have six days full time training so I think they will have done a bit more than stick a needle into an orange, which is all the training I got for self and colleague administering Atropine in the case of a biological war in the Navy in the sixties

Yes thats another thing, with Essential Thrombocythemia I can't have a live vaccine as the shingles one is. So I suppose that means the need to check.

As far as I’m aware none of the vaccines are live.
I will also be leading the queue. I volunteered to be a guinea pig for any testing but haven’t been called. I feel it’s part of my social duty to help to stop the spread of the disease.
Slightly off topic, but has anyone had to deal with a friend - eminently qualified and intelligent - who has suddenly come out as a rabid anti vaxxer? I’d she tells me once more that the vaccine is only being given as a form of governmental mind control then she may not survive to have the option of getting one !

I will be first in the queue and I volunteered for the trial although I wasn’t called . I’m 60 and fairly well so in a way I think I should because not everyone will be able to take it . At 83 I can understand your hesitation though x keep safe x

I am participating in Phase 3 trial at St Thomas' in London for the Novovax vaccine being developed by an American Biotech company.
As it is not expected to publish it's results until spring 2021 it may be at an earlier date I am in an age group offered a vaccine from another manufacturer. If this happens my details in the trial will be unblinded to see if I received the trial vaccine or a placebo. If I've had the vaccine & it's proven to be effective I'll be delighted and if I only received a placebo I will gratefully accept any vaccine I am offered -The world needs this

I hope the tories won’t be outsourcing the huge supply of needles and syringes that will be needed to their mates/wives of MPs like they have with PPE supplies and testing etc.

Hmm it’s my understanding that the vaccines are all different...but all have been rushed through. The basic aim is to promote the production of antibodies...people confuse that with a lot of other things.

No. The Swine Flu vaccine made me very, very ill. I have auto-immune issues so react differently. Also, I think it’s an unethical practice. No one is ever invited to read the contraindications sheet from the vaccine manufacturer before being stabbed with something that alters your body’s immune response. It’s law that every box of drugs you get from your GP has a drug advice sheet. One of the vaccine companies applied to Brussels to request not to have any vaccine injury claims made against them. That speaks volumes to me. Brussels refused. Unfortunately, we’re coming out of the EU next month. With is Cabinet off Clowns in charge of the country, what will they do?

No I will not be having it full stop it's not been around long enough for full checks if you do a bit of research top scientists have been coming forward and saying what's in it alters your DNA it's my choice so please respect that

Yes definitely, I want my life back, I want to travel to see my son and grandchildren in Canada again. I want to spend time with my grandchildren in England in a tier 3 region. Fed up of Skyping. I want to return to my voluntary tour guide role, visit friends etc. I get the flu jab every year, and that's modified every year, yet we accept these. The vaccine is not going to be released unless its safe. Cannot understand friends who say they won't take it as they think it's not safe, yet there's a pandemic which really isn't safe? Would you rather have coronavirus or a jab? If a large proportion of the population refuse to be vaccinated the virus will still go round, maybe mutating, and the restrictions will go on and on. This virus can be stopped. Don't listen to scaremongering.

Having seen the impact of Covid on people who were previously healthy, the enormous number of deaths which are still going up daily and the months without being able to visit and hug family and friends, I will definitely have the vaccine as soon as I am eligible.

I'm the same age as you, annsixty and will definitely accept the jab when it's offfered. I would prefer the Oxford one but don't imagine we will get a choice. Hopefully life can get back to almost normal by next summer, more or less.

I love all these people who come up with statements like “There has not been enough testing”. They presumably are on the research teams themselves or, at least, are highly qualified virologists.

Definitely! That is if I can safely get to where they are being offered. We don't have any transport and a some point during the first lockdown my back and hip "went" and I can't walk as far as my GP. I'd get a cab, but I don't want to be in the small space of a car with a stranger until after the vaccination.
